I just read this. Knuckleballer Joe Niekro passed away in Oct. 2006 from a brain aneurysm. I never heard it before. Remember watching him pitch every time he started. The ball sure looked strange coming to home plate. Did anyone know he had passed? His brother Phil is still going at 77.

All comments about him are welcome. Anyone here go to one of his games?

Joe actually never threw the knuckler while playing semi-pro, he didn't start throwing it till he got to the majors....also while he played for the Detroit Tigers....Billy Martin then the Mgr would not let him throw the Knuckle ball!
