I throw out my back about once a year where it is excruciating sharp pain and very tight for about 3 weeks. It is about the worst pain I can imagine, and every time I move, the sciatic nerve just makes me groan in agony. This happened to me last Friday and it was bad. Woke up Saturday morning and it was worse. I got an Icy Hot Tens Therapy unit and have just been using it for 1-2 hours a day, and it made a huge difference right away. I have no idea how this works, but it does. It just lightly massages the place for 30 minutes at a time. It's probably going to be another 7-10 days before I can get back in the gym, and I was so pissed and discouraged last weekend, because I've been getting in shape. However, the pain is a 2 instead of a 10. I highly recommend.

Anyone remember those medal bracelet things? I had a friend that swore they worked.

Thanks for the info. I may start trying this when my steroid shot in the back starts wearing down...

It really will help you. It says that it blocks nerve pain. I don't know about any of that. I just know that it feels pretty good, like a light massage, and the pain is drastically less than it would have been. So maybe it does indeed block the nerves from feeling pain. Don't care, but I love this thing.

Hey ZPJ, just wanted to let you know since I started working out again the pain is gone... the 1st weeks were terrible especially when jogging uphill but the pain flat out dissapeared 2 weeks afterwards...! Thanks for your concerns a few months back.

lmao, and maybe ice cream

Ice Cream is not being served right now and won't be anytime soon as punishment for the unruly behavior during last Thursday's Bingo Game.

They're damn lucky to still be even getting the Jello. They're Constitutionally entitled to the Jello though. State Constitution.

He is FROM Illinois lol. Surely we can't begrudge him coming up off Jello for the Men. Its inexpensive.

Well....naturally the Gov (us...the taxpayers) pays 1000 times more for it than we do.

Plus "Jello"...the word LOOKS sorta similar to "Galena" somehow. I don't know how. It just does. Whatever though like I say they're fortunate to have not lost the Jello as well the damn miscreants.

The TENS unit is very similar to what the Chiropractor uses. Stim machines are used not only in Chiro offices but in probably every trainers room in college and pro sports. I have used Icy Hot unit but you do much better if go to the sites that sell them. Every Chiropractor I have gone to uses a Stim machine before doing an adjustment.

Great topic Mr. I.

I'm an old active dude and for some reason got hit with back pain that was almost unbearable. Jesus, the back will give anyone a different view of life...I don't give a fuck who you are if you are in constant pain. I don't go to doctors, never have and never will unless a broken bone is involved. I went through hell for months....then bought a new mattress, got back to exercising on a regular basis. I have NO problems now. Hell, men I'm 67 years old and do 50 sit ups every morning.

Still trying to lose weight....hard but a goal I work for.
