Yesterday I got a strange call from someone saying that they are a collection agency on behalf of my bank.

They said I had outstanding NSF fees from 2009 that are unsettled . This is 100% bullshit.

I have never had any NSF fees ever in my life.

Then the person on the phone says my name then tells me my routing number and every digit of my checking account number.

Then they threaten to report me to some agency if I do not pay these fake fees that do not exist.

I know for a fact that they are full of shit about the fake fees but I'm concerned about the fact that whoever these people are know my entire checking account number

What kind of additional info do they need? They gave me my entire routing and account number.

It would be a major pain in the ass to change my account number because I have dozens of places linked to that account

Dude, call the bank & close your account......sounds like a very shady scam.

No one should call you up & know your information.......big time shady!

Which is more of a pain? Losing your money or changing your information with the bank?

Just call the Bank, relax. They deal with this stuff all the time. They might have an 800 number whereby you could do that right now or over the weekend. Relax. If they could do anything with the numbers they have they'd not be calling you and trying to extort Money. They'd be at Walmart trying to buy Electronics. Just call the bank at your leisure, everything will be fine.

That's easy info to get. If you've ever written a check all of the info is right there.

You can look up or call the bank for their routing number.

Exactly. Routing Number ain't shit. You could Google right now & find Routing Number for whatever bank exists, pretty much. Thats just a # that says through which Bank a Transaction gets directed. Much like a sign pointing to where a Yard Sale is happening.

Well about 2 months ago someone from the same area code also called me and made up some bullshit bill that I owned that did not exist.
They told me the last 4 digits of my SS but they did not know the rest.

It was such BS I did not give it a 2nd thought.
I felt no threat because they only knew the last 4 of the SS .

But these people who called yesterday had more info .

But now that I look back on it the same people that called me 2 months ago is probably the same people who called me yesterday making another failed attempt at extorting me

If they looked thru your trash, assuming you throw statements away, several statements from various places have the last 4 digits of your social.........

I.had someone trying to get me to give them my banking info over the phone as they claimed they were from the electric company.

I called the electric company & they stated they never call customers asking for bank info, stating it was a con.......of course I never gave those scamsters any info.

statute of limitations is usually no more than 5 years. I usually tell someone if they think they are right to either sue me or fuck off.

That site does not have my bank account and it's the Facebook of Russia.
A vary high profile site with billions of hits per day.

Probably one of the top 25 websites in the world so I doubt it
