Hello All!

New poster here, long time lurker and reader of the Rx and other sports forums

mid 30's computer programmer from south Texas

question for y'all, what's a good cheap VPN I can use from home when "surfing" the internet? In this day and age anyone surfing "naked" is nuts

Thanks in advance

I remain "hooped"!

Probably more dangerous to use a VPN (especially a free one) then being naked as you put it

Why dangerous, bro? As a computer professional I can tell you that every keystroke you type is under siege these days. Chances are your personal info is already floating around out there whether you know it or not. How is using a VPN more dangerous than that?

If you are this confident in this, I would just fork up the funds for a regular vpn then. It doesn't make sense to expect the full security of remaining anonymous while only wishing to use a cheap or free version. You can even get some one month trials of the full ones sometimes.

Those who offer free VPNs do not explain why they offer their services free of charge. And most of times they won’t have to because users like free stuff, we all do in fact. But in this case you really need to be cautious about free things as some free stuff might be offers with bad intentions. Those VPN providers offer no info about traffic or channel encryption. This means they can potentially monitor all of your Internet traffic, trace every step you make on the web to later sell anything like gmail accounts, credentials or even credit card numbers to any interested party.

Understood, but I did say "cheap" and not "free". And in any event, your ISP has all your private info if they want to access it so any level of encryption is more beneficial than that free or not.

Did you just start using computer at home personally or why the sudden wish to use VPN at home? I am just curious what flipped the switch for you personally to the need to be protected and anonymous at home from today on.

Cheap and good

The only things I use it for is to avoid blackout restrictions on streaming sports packages, and to stream stuff when I'm overseas. But it works great for both.

I don't want my ISP to know the extent of my internet pornography addiction

Problem is they know everything you've looked at previous to vpn use though already...you are basically already profiled.

EF is the VPN master asking about advice on using VPN's. LOL. Just a PR stunt trying to drum up support for using a VPN.
