Julio Teheran
Opponent- SD (Ross) R Park- @SD
There’s not a whole lot to love pitching-wise on the early slate of games today, but Julio Teheran is the exception. The Padres strike out a lot against righties (21.6%) and have the 27th lowest OPS as well. Teheran hasn’t exactly been on fire this year, but his numbers have been much stronger against righty hitters, something the Padres have a lot of. Mix in a good pitchers park in Petco, and Teheran appears to be your best bet.

Jaime Garcia
Opponent- SF (Cain) R Park- @Stl
Because all of the upper tier pitchers on this slate have pretty tough matchups, Lets Look at some lower priced guys that sould perform well. Normally facing the Giants formidable offense is a no go, but Garcia is an interesting matchup. While the Giants crush right-handed pitching, they are actually in the lower half of the league against lefties. Garcia’s strikeout numbers aren’t going to blow anyone away, but he’s been phenomenal everywhere else with a WHIP of 0.90, and ERA of 1.57 and an xFIP of 3.15. Add in the fact that the Cardinals like to win at home (because they usually do), and Garcia might end up posting the best score of any pitcher on the slate.

Nathan Karns
Opponent- Hou (Keuchel) L Park- @Hou
Doesn’t have quite as good a matchup as Garcia, but Nathan Karns is another good mid-tier priced arm you can use in the late slate. His strikeout numbers are better than Garcia’s at almost a K per inning, which is nice since the Astros strikeout the second most in the bigs against righties. The troublesome things are that the Astros are decent hitters against righties (when they make contact), and he’s facing an ace in Dallas Keuchel. On the other hand the Rays are fantastic against southpaws and just recently roughed up Scott Kazmir. I don’t like his upside as much as Garcia’s, but he’s a decent bet.

DFS goes both ways

Analysis: Teheran has been sharp recently, but unfortunately, he is not pitching at home today. His career home/road splits are glaring and at this point, he is an automatic fade when he is pitching on the road. The matchup and ballpark are both in his favor, but he is a sizable underdog on the road. I will be avoiding Teheran in the early slate of games.

The Braves have one of the lowest team totals on the board today and they are one of the worst hitting teams in baseball against right-handed pitching. They can safely be avoided against Tyson Ross.

I get you. I play DFS all the time so I agree it helps but there are so many different angles. Why did you stop posting actual plays?

OK, I'm doing most handicapping myself.. So I'll ask, where's DFS? I'll be playing SD/Atl Under, knowing now I'll never see 7 on this one.

Just stopped, felt after being so hot a few losers were in order, tried to avoid it. Hope i did. posting again just picks for now. Thats most requested. You are right everyone reads different angles on saber metrics. i post and play the ones i like. there's many angles on every game. Its kind of like handicapping horse racing. a lot of work. just depends on who and how they interpret the stats. As long as you can stay ahead.

So you are going to post your picks again? Confused by the statement. Always nice to take a lil break if you feel like a losing streak was in order. Nice that you avoided that and came out on top. Keep doing your thing and thanks for sharing info......it doesn't go unappreciated.
