New Zealand is really cool & so is Fiji........
yeah for a few weeks. went out to the smaller islands, met some great locals....incredibly hospitable people....one guy took us to his "house" and introduced us to his family, took us camping on an uninhabited island (at the time anyway)....we helped him clear land for a few days as he wanted to start a hostel....he and his boys killed a wild goat for dinner (they corner it and beat it with rocks...no joke...."goat whacking").....very gamey meat....
there is a lot of underlying tension there between indigenous fijians and fijian indians (brought from india to fiji while it was a colony)

I'm not sure how safe you'll be in Vegas
Let me know next time you are out here and ready to try it again....I've got plenty of boards and wetsuits.....from a big foam one for my 5 year old to all sorts of short boards and a number in between! Even when you get it down, it can still be risky....I've had some close calls from near drowning to getting staples in my head from surfing....but man do I love me some ocean!
yep, still going strong....did you take a lesson/rent a board from them? i think i may have bought my first board from them around 99 (started surfing in indonesia on the same trip where i hit fiji...rented a board for a month in kuta beach and taught myself with a buddy then bought one when i came back home)
I am a bit south of malibu but still surf there from time to time on south swells....
