[h=1]Sorry, sports gambling still illegal in New Jersey after court ruling[/h]
In a 2-to-1 vote, a three-judge panel on the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals in in Philadelphia has ruled against the authorization of sports gambling in New Jersey.
In 2014, the state of New Jersey voted to repeal its prohibition of sports gambling in the state. The state argued that this move did not violate the federal Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 — which limits sports gambling to Nevada, Oregon, Delaware and Montana and forbids other states from authorizing it — because the state did license or authorize sports betting, leaving oversight to casinos and racetracks.
The NCAA and the four major professional sports leagues sued to prevent the law from taking effect, arguing that New Jersey’s repeal of the law was actually an authorization of sports gambling. On Tuesday, the court agreed.

True democracy is letting the people of the land vote on what they want........legal sports betting would win in a huge landslide!

2-1 ruling by a panel of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia left the door open
for New Jersey to further appeal the matter to the full court.

Judges Maryanne Trump Barry, the sister of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump,
and Marjorie Rendell ruled that the state can't use "clever drafting" to get around the federal ban.

Will these morons ever get it right?!?

Although, it could be the next step to nationwide legalization through Congress, which some Senators & Sports Leagues Officials have come around as of late & said needs new consideration...

I don't think the courts really have a ground for changing the law, it's a legislative thing

then again, modern day courts do love to legislate from the bench, so WTF

AC has been sad for quite awhile. Legalizing sportsbetting would only be a short term fix. Those incompetent, crooked fuckers would find a way to spend themselves back into poverty.

Sports betting will help AC for a while, but it certainly won't revive it........I think AC would have been a better place if they legalized betting back in the early 90's.

Too many casinos all over the east coast & around AC for them.to be revived at all.

Can AC be turned into Vegas where families can come & enjoy all the entertainment?

AC is a very dirty city, I don't know how they can turn it around........

Well they are saying that the court basically layed the groundwork/blueprint in their 30 pages explaining their decision for NJ & other states to get it approved in the future.

Also, don't confuse this NJ battle with the war to get Sports Betting legalized nationwide.

It's kind of 2 different things.

That's why the NBA & others made the statement today that they are happy to see NJ turned down because they don't believe it was the proper way to go about leglaization & want to see it go through Congress for everyone, instead.

It's still being pushed by many different groups so possibility of sports legalization is far from dead...

sports gambling will not help AC. when sports gambling becomes legal in NJ everyone will use an app and not leave their house just like they already do with their local. no one and i repeat no one wants to go to atlantic city to watch sports.
