Two members of a local TV station's news team were fatally shot Wednesday during a live TV broadcast near Roanoke, Va., WDBJ7-TV said.
A manhunt was underway in Franklin County, Va., after multiple shots were fired.
"We do not know the motive, we do not know who the suspect, who the killer is," station manager Jeffrey Marks said later on a live broadcast.
The live broadcast at the time of the shooting showed reporter Alison Parker, 24, interviewing someone at a water park when, just off camera, shots rang out and Alison is heard screaming.
The station said the shooting took place at about 6:45 a.m. Killed were WDBJ7's cameraman Adam Ward, 24, and reporter Parker, 24.

A gunman killed a reporter and videographer for a CBS affiliate in Virginia in a shooting that was broadcast live Wednesday morning.

The affiliate, WDBJ-TV in Roanoke, reports that police are looking for a suspect.

Alison Parker, 24, and Adam Ward, 27, a reporter and cameraman respectively for WDBJ-TV, died in the shooting, the station's general manager, Jeff Marks, said during a broadcast later in the morning.

Marks said that Parker and Ward died shortly after 6:45 a.m. when the shots rang out.
"We heard screaming and then we heard nothing," Marks said.

Parker was interviewing Vicki Gardner, executive director of the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce, at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, Virginia, when the shots rang out.

Barb Nocera, an official with the chamber, told The Roanoke Times newspaper that Gardner was shot in the back during the shooting and was in surgery.
Marks said the police do not know the motive of the shooting or the gunman's identity.

Schools in Bedford County, where Moneta is located, and neighboring Franklin County were placed on lockdown following the shooting, according to messages posted to the school districts' Facebook pages.

Give me one good reason this person along with the Colorado shooter and South Carolina shooter shouldn't be hung by their dicks and necks for the public to watch. People aren't scared of consequences any more.

FYI they do have his picture, the camera man was able to drop the camera pointing right at the shooter.

Also so I just read both the camera man and reporters significant others were watching the news feeds and one was producing it. Both worked for the news station as well. If I knew how to put a picture up from my phone is share the picture of the shooter. I refuse to watch the videos though. No need to see that, it's just awful.

They wouldn't have enough pressure on their dick if rope was also around their neck. Only good reason I can think of.

There are plenty of young roping Cowboys left in this world that will tie them up just right. They may be there for a bit but that is the important part.

Death th is too good for these idiots!
