Dawkins’s family has released a statement:
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband and father, Darryl Dawkins, who succumbed today to a heart attack.
Darryl touched the hearts and spirits of so many with his big smile and personality, ferocious dunks, but more than anything, his huge, loving heart.
His family, wife Janice, children Dara, Tabitha, Nicholas and Alexis, along with countless family, friends, and fans, all mourn his loss.
More than anything Darryl accomplished in his basketball career as the inimitable ‘Chocolate Thunder,’ he was most proud of his role and responsibility as a husband and father. We ask that the public please respect our privacy as we grieve his loss.

True. Also, interestingly enough, while he wasn't the very 1st to wear them on court Darryl was the Reason that Gold Chains were ruled to be disallowed to be worn during NBA Games.
He was one of a kind. Thats so Cliche I know but he really really was. His Personality was amazing, his Humor, positive outlook...his genuine compassion for others...his showmanship....Competitive Fire....combine all these things together and you'll see whay The Cliche applies to this guy. So much about this guy was utterly unique. And he took NBA to new levels in some regards.

I got really freaked out about a month ago cuz I saw her at Bell Plaza by the burger shop and I thought she'd escaped from Jail but it was her sister!!!! I almost fell off my Moped and crashed it looked so much like her they look so much alike. Her sister is Pentacostal though really really religious so she absolutely refused even when I offered her 19 Bucks and a Value Meal from FH's (I only had $25 on me at the time) if she agree to go behind the Thrift Store and do a striptease for me like her sis woulda done in a heartbeat. they just looked so much alike i had to ask. Anyone would have. You definitely would have cuz she looks exactly like Chocolate T only a little smaller. (But then most everyone and...everything is smaller than Chocolate T.) She (CT's Sis) slapped me really really hard though and yelled a LOT of bad words at me. For, like, 10 minutes. Right there in the middle of the parking lot. With everyone in town listening. She tried to kick me in the nuts but missed (fortunately) cuz she kicks like a HORSE. That wasn't very "Christian" hitting me cussing me out then trying to kick me....
Anywho, fortunately I got this picture of her at first...before things went to shit between us. You can see how much they look alike.
