The only real critique I have of it is that to try and stuff this story into a couple hours screen time was just stupid to begin with. This needed to be (and would have done tremendously well as) a Breaking Bad or Sopranos type Series unfolding over years....thats the only way to have done this right.

Thus was I disappointed. It did not "live up", in my eyes, but it never had any hope of accomplishing that. The level of Jerry Heller's fucking over financially of the guys needed to be dealt with so so so so much more, revealed...made to be understood. Conversely...his POV on that shown also, "opening doors for them that otherwise might never have been opened".

Women are whining that Dre beating them up should have been addressed as well. I suppose. The complete Gayness of Dre's first Group should not have been glossed over as should not have been Dre's perhaps own Homosexuality. Mostly though.....the disintegration of the group, the lyrics thrown back and forth during that, Eazy's decline to Demise....the early days of the group, media reaction....Cube's Days in NYC at the start of his solo stuff....Dre's conflict with Suge and building up Aftermath.....The LA Riots and the effect those had on so much relating to this story....

I would have liked to see more of how Eazy grew into the role...from the very start when Dre/Cube asked him outta the blue to do the song. That led to a Star Is Born from no expectations or glimmer of such.

all of this stuff and so much more needed to be presented in so much greater detail that no 2 hour movie ever had a hope of getting done effectively so my overall verdict is Fail.

But not an actual "F". I'll credit for effort, for portraying the re-unification of the group around the time of Eazy's passing....the mending to some degree anyways of fences which i felt was important to show and I'm glad Gray, The Director, devoted a good amount of screentime to that so I'll give it a "C".

With potential for bettering that grade if its resubmitted to me in Mini-Series Form.

In a Timely Manner.

I nearly shut it off altogether cuz of how "hard" how Gangsta how Street Tough they was portrayed to be in their early lives...yeah with Eazy that probably was closer to true, accurate, less totally removed from actual fact but Dre? Cube?

"C'mon Man!!!!"

I understand why they felt the need to do that though.

Haven't seen it yet, but growing up listening to NWA & other groups, I'm looking forward to it.

Ice cube is a great ambassador for how he grew up and how to get a life on the right path. I have a a lot of respect for him and have for a long time. It also helps the Friday movies were hilarious.

Great Point. General belief (and excuse ignoramus' used to "dismiss" Cube, write him off as "fake") was that he was said to have grown up Middle Class. Movie represents that he lived also in Compton, In The Hood. i don't know or really care personally whats real his lyrics certainly were & they were unlike anything seen before....or at least "beyond" that, WestCoast perspective. Cube's brilliance lyrically changed the game and I was....now that you mention it, very glad to have had that shown and emphasized. How responsible Cube was alone for NWA ever even happening. Not to take anything away from Dre, in any way. Equally Brilliant a Producer as Cube was Lyricist & especially at such a Young Age. Gifted....Cube.

Improving my Grade on this film to "C+".
