Eli Manning and the Giants are finalizing a four-year, $84 million contract extension that could be signed Friday, sources informed of the situation told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport on Thursday.

Rapoport reported Wednesday that Manning's camp had made significant progress in working toward a long-term extension with the Giants. As Rapoport noted earlier this summer, Manning had hoped to work something out before or during the team's training camp. That obviously did not happen despite the fact that both of Manning's 2004 draft contemporaries, Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger, struck brand-new mega-extensions this season.

It now appears Manning will been under a new extension when the Giants play the Cowboys on Sunday.

Around The NFL will have more on this development shortly.

He gave them 2 superbowls... I guess he is living of the rent but... still a better QB than many others in the league... he lacks drive and is not a constant winner, basically I think the guy lacks motivation and ambition, psychologically he knows he will never be as good as Peyton. I'd like to see him training and during preseason, my bet is that he is a little training lazy and is a distracted person, he has the arm power, no doubt... SB '07 proved that.

Lot of teams would pay Eli that in a minute obviously.

Scarcity is a great thing if you're an NFL QB.

Agree there ... But i just think it's a little too late for this.
But he might shock me, since he does have One of the Best WR's in the League
beckham could make him look like a Superstar

Used to date a girl that went to Ole Miss with him. I think it was his sophomore of junior year, whichever one was subpar. She said he was drunk 24/7. Of course, she was a slut so she prob "knew" him.

I'd take him over the red rifle, cutler and kaepernick. 3 guys that have also gotten paid recently. There's just so many teams that have solid overall squads but garbage at QB. Going from a D to a B- would be huge for them. Why even decent QBs get paid and never really switch teams.

And yeah he probably owes Beckham like 25% of that contract. He was 1 of the worst QBs in the league the year before without him.

Supply and Demand. Not as easy to "upgrade" your qb as some think. That is why I say if you suck at that position, take one every year in the 1st 3 rounds. Eventually you will get a hit. You could have a great roster and suck at qb, you have zero chance.
