Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone out there has used Bovada? Any opinions/comments would be much appreciated.

Anyone else heard anything about Bovada? Good? Bad?

Thanks again

PROS: They pay. Good odds if you bet underdogs.
CONS: Terrible odds if you bet faves. Post lines VERY late.

Great lines if you are a dog bettor, usually half point higher than norm

Laughably bad customer service. For instance, while live betting tennis I thought a bet had been erroneously placed twice so less than a minute after placing the bet I contacted them. The point isn't that I couldn't cancel the wager--who knows, maybe i did hit the submit button twice. But this was the excuse: "if we’ll allow the option to cancel bets, our Book Managers wouldn’t be able to accurately balance the action." It was a $25 bet! Twenty five dollars! That's enough to throw off their books, apparently. (Note that while experimenting with mobile book at Heritage I accidentally wagered on the wrong team--totally my fault--and when I contacted them by email they not only cancelled the wager but reminded me that they have 24/7 phone operators who could've helped me sooner so I didn't have to sweat waiting for an email reply.)

I've had wagers misgraded which, tho eventually fixed, is a giant pain, obviously. I've definitely never received an apology for that, either, despite it happening twice in the past 10 weeks. So PAY ATTENTION to how things are graded.

There was a $50 limit on over/under wagers for season points for NHL teams. When I inquired about such so limits I was told that such limits were essential to keeping the sportsbook "safe." The shortest wager was maybe -135. Oh my.

I received a marketing email advertising "Now that we've seen who the top college football contenders are, it's time to take advantage of the higher odds available in the futures market. Place your futures bets now on who you think will come out on top as this season's National Champions." When I visited the site immediately after receiving that email I found that the market was closed. It stayed that way for days. I asked why they sent an email advertising a market they didn't have open and was told, "Lines are posted or removed based on the discretion of our Book Managers using the information received from their sources. We’ll always try to post lines for as many games as possible but are unable to for some events.Review the site periodically to see any new available lines that you may be interested in."

They have no live chat. If you're not big on having phone calls with your illegal off-shore, online book, you're screwed. They do answer every email, and they do answer promptly (less than 24 hours).

The lines are terrible. And soooooooo late. Yes, they're often shaded towards the dog. But you'll often have to pay for it with added juice. And their lines for dogs are NOT always the best: not by a long shot. You still have to shop. College football totals aren't posted until late Friday night and Saturday's NCAA lines don't go up until late Thursday. Be prepared for every wager you make to be rejected because the line suddenly changed, even though they've only had lines available for a few minutes.

They do pay. I received a check for about $500 three days after requesting it. My bank is pretty cool, I think, so even though the funds were drawn on a foreign (Canadian) bank, they were available within a week of depositing (which I could NOT do at an ATM--ATMs often reject draws on foreign accounts so be prepared to have to talk to a teller).

tl;dr Customer Service is laughably inept; lines are late and bad; you'll get paid
