Yesterday was rained out so today they have a one admission DH. Arrieta is pitching and there can't be more than a few thousand fans in the stadium. I understand why it would be empty at the 5pm start but it's still empty at 6:30 when the regular starting time for the game would be 7pm. If you can catch the game on MLB package or Cubs/Phillies local broadcasting you will see what I mean. To boot they are giving out a free wool cap to all fans. Philadelphia isn't Tampa Bay or Florida. I know they have the worst record but this team use to regularly sell out. A bad night might be 25,000 fans.

It was the perfect storm for a small crowd:
-weekday game
-day game
-their record
-GM fired

they will come in for game 2. Not many can sit through 2 games and the time between them.

Game one was the attraction. Arrietta has now given up 1 earned run through 8 innings today. One earned run in 5 games. That is a phenomenal streak.

I never understood that. All of these teams build these huge parks that look great but watch the highlights of a game and hardly anyone is at these games relative to stadium size. You can clearly see 1,000's of empty seats on every single day. Sometimes the park looks like it is 75% empty.

funny how just 6-8 years ago people like myself would be going to games every single night and the place was jam packed and rocking no matter who was playing or pitching. times change so quickly

People stopped going cause you stopped going... Cant you see people get addicted to your charming rapey-happy personality?

It is hard to get excited for baseball until the last week of the regular season. It is a grind.

I put on Comcast Sports Net to watch what the cable guide said was on and to my surprise the Phillies game was on. This was around 5:30 pm. I'm sure 95% of people in Philly had no clue they had a makeup double header today because of the rainout yesterday.

I even had enough discipline to not watch preseason NFL or sports center for months. It will wear you out. I watched the game last night, and I will start watching everything now (but still not much ESPN). No pregame nonsense, either. Just forums and games. And a few articles.
