Ok..I know we're all tired of Newtons antics and such (myself inckuded). But what if there is something to this? What if Hochuli is out there favoring other players?

That would be a let down . Especially given this guy is an attorney. Hoc is denying it but clearly something was said. Just look at Cams reaction. He was stunned.

Not a Newton fan at all. However I don't think Newton. Would be dumb enough to go on the national stage and make that one up.

Gotta back Cam on this one

How many times has Brady got a flag just by looking at the ref after he got up

I've seen lots of Miked up stuff with Eddie The Arms. He's a ball buster and a kidder out there, and I suspect he said it, but After he told Cam it's not Roughing and here's why.

Maybe he was, ya know, joking? People really think one of the longest tenured head officials is or isn't throwing flags because of someone's age? Bunch of crybabies.

Guys like Brees, Brady and Manning definitely get more flags and would have gotten a flag on that play. So yes, refs pamper the more established players

Agreed. No way Hocoli is getting himself into hot water making a comment like that....

Stand in the pocket Qbs will always get protected more than running Qbs.......

Brady, both Manning's, Brees, Romo, Rodgers, Flacco, Rivers, Big Ben.....all pass first & then run.

Cam Newton, RG3, Vick, Manziel, Kappy, Mariota.......these guys won't get as many flags as the passing Qbs because IMO, the NFL values the passing Qb more.......

Russell Wilson falls in between.

As far as did Ed say anything, its his word against Cam's......if no one else heard it, nothing Cam can do about it & Cam shouldn't have brought it out to the public eye.

Judging by Cams reaction....I guess he's telling the truth

Agreed. Initially I thought it was another case of Cam bringing undo attention. After watching the replay and seeing the 2 interact, clearly something offensive was said.

NFL not planning further investigation into Ed Hochuli matter.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Unless audio surfaces to support Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton's claim that referee Ed Hochuli said he "wasn't old enough" to get a call last Sunday, the NFL will not look into the matter further, a league source told ESPN.com on Tuesday.

NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino told the NFL Network on Monday that Hochuli could be disciplined if the league found him to have said what Newton claimed. The league has found no evidence of that and doesn't plan to investigate further unless somebody steps forward with audio to support Newton. Blandino said he spoke with Hochuli and that the referee was "adamant" he did not make that comment.

"He told me that he said, 'The difference is you were running,'" Blandino said. "I think when you look at the tape, it does look like Ed did say that ... at one point. You can't see everything that Ed says, but he's adamant he didn't say it, and I think that's where we are right now and we're just going to kind of move on from there."

NFL Referee Association executive director Jim Quirk released a statement saying what Newton claimed was "not true."

"Not even close to being true," he said in the statement. "I'm not a lip-reader, but the short video clip I saw looks to me like Ed said very directly that 'you were running' and then shakes his head no. We stand by Ed that the accusation against him is totally false."

Newton, 26, thought a penalty could have been called early in the fourth quarter, when he was hit hard near the out-of-bounds marker by defensive tackle Tyeler Davison while throwing an incomplete pass.

When the two-time Pro Bowler asked Hochuli about the call, Newton said he was told, "You're not old enough to get that call."

"I looked at him like: '[Jeez]! I didn't think you had to have seniority to get a personal foul or anything like that,'" Newton said.

The video shows Newton stopping at one point and looking straight at Hochuli in what appears to be a state of disbelief at what the official said. Blandino supported Hochuli's decision not to throw a flag on the play.

"Cam was outside the pocket and he threw the ball on the run, so there are different protections for a quarterback that is running outside the pocket versus in the pocket," he said. "Outside the pocket you don't get the two-step protection, and so when you look at the play, Cam threw on the run, there was some contact, it wasn't late and it wasn't a foul."

Watch the tape closely read the lips Hoculi definetivly said "Runner"
prob something like you don't get that call cause your a runner !!!!!

Now ........he did also say something to Cam back at the huddle ,,and I think this is where Ed may have jokingly said Cam was to young to get a call like that -----We will never know the truth and it really doesn't matter at this point anyway!!!!!

It is possible that Cam didn't hear him correctly.....because you can see by cams reaction that he was surprised by the response.

You can see the replay in this first 30 secs. Cam does stop in his tracks when he hears whatever he hears out of Ed
