I can't wrap my head around the fucking morons who profess that Fantasy leagues fall under a game of skill but Poker doesn't and is therefore gambling?

WTF is that? The skill in fantasy is picking the right players. That's it. Period. It doesn't matter what your opponent does, it only matter what YOU do. In Poker it CLEARLY matters what your opponent does or doesn't do. It's clearly a SKILL to read into their actions or lack thereof. Yet that's gambling and this fantasy shit isn't?

Total BS.

I can see Poker making it's way to legal status sometime in the next two years. Cat is out of the bag with this fantasy shit. No way they are gonna make that illegal now so I think it's just a short time for poker to go mainstream as well.

Poker will never be legal. I remember the posters who voted for Obama because he played poker, it was a matter of time until it was legal. We are no closer to having it legal. It would be more skillful to me if they didn't allow sunglasses, hoodies, etc.

You are correct regarding skill vs luck.

Not sure about eventual legality. Probably.

Has nothing to do with skill vs luck, right vs wrong, whatever.

All about politics, lobbying, and money.

Ten years ago, Internet poker was a de-centralized band of pirates. They were crushed by government, and the brick & mortar casino industry.

Fantasy is in for a bumpy ride --- but they've got big companies (and big money) on their side.

And the leagues. The leagues see higher tv ratings because of it.

I'm playing legal online poker right now, and B/M poker rooms are being remodeled, and are busier than ever where I live.

You are pretty much attacking a straw man though.

Everyone that thinks DFS should be legal also agrees that poker should be.

Poker just doesn't have as good of lobbyists/didn't have the loophole.

Well the part about the loophole is EXACTLY what I mean. HOW anyone with any knowledge of poker can say it's NOT a game of skill (and therefore not in the loophole) is insane. The "game of skill" part is the loophole. The lobbyists I can understand though. Oh well...like pot, I think sooner or later it will be pretty much legal everywhere. Just my opinion...

Dig deeper, read the UIGEA, connect the dots, see the big picture --- the "game of skill" is *not* the loophole. The loophole is a specific carve-out for horse racing, tribal gaming, state lotteries, and Fantasy Sports. The loophole is a result of money, politics, and lobbying.

The luck vs skill argument is somewhat of a distraction. In the last 20 years, there are examples of both being denied (luck-based gaming & skill-based gaming).

Why does Delaware offer NFL parlay cards, but doesn't offer NFL single-game wagers? Wouldn't you say parlay cards involve more luck (compared to single-game wagers)?

Some people subscribe to that theory --- online poker attracts new players, and those players eventually visit B/M poker rooms.

Unfortunately, most B/M executives don't subscribe to that theory.

Or, they *do* subscribe to that theory --- but their strategy was to first eliminate all competition (PokerStars, Full Tilt), and then gradually re-introduce legal (and B/M affiliated) online poker to Americans. Lex Luthor would be proud.
