Yeah, I'm not swayed by one game. I know what Hoyer is. A career backup. Mallet might not even be that, but I know he has awesome arm talent, and a team going nowhere like this year's Texans, should be about devlopement at this point. If Mallet proves he sucks, you are at the top of the draft, and can draft your next guy.

Again, I'm not swayed by one game or 2 games. Hoyer has proven what he is. Houston isn't winning anything this year at 1-4, so go with the guy who "may" become something, rather than the guy who we know won't. What good does it do if Hoyer leads Houston to 5-6 wins, as opposed to Mallet, who may only lead them to 3, but may develop into the QB his arm talent shows he could be? I realize my view won't be shared by those who want immediate gratification, but a good Coach, who is there for the long term, would be about more than winning the next game. I suspect O'Brien will do what you want him to do.
You realize all of last week's Hoyer stats were in total garbage time, when they were down by 30+. Look, I agree, Hoyer gives them a better chance to win their next game. A Coach of a 1-4 team better be about more than winning his next game. And Hoyer has show what he is for his career in multiple places, multiple times. Hoyer should start Now .... and if he truly Fails after 3-4 starts... then like you said, they ain't going nowhere and they can try to Mold him into a future Good QB
I know who he is... I believe we all do ( BTW, I'm not a fan at all of his ) But right now he seems to be clicking with his timing and more important, his team.

and yes... 100% it was Garbage time last week @ the Falcons ... He still was thrown into the mix, and did fail.

I'd start Mallett. I think they both suck but with Hoyer, you know what you have. A career back-up. Not like the Texans are going anywhere besides a top 10 pick in the draft. I'd also trade JJ Watt.
This is why I scoffed at people that would start a franchise around him. He is a secondary piece. He alone makes no difference in wins and losses. The Colts and their shit O line kept him off a 40 year old qb.

When you are talking 2 mediocre QBs like that, it is a lot easier to come into the game down double digits and sling the ball around a little. The D didn't plan for you, they're playing more conservative on defense, garbage time, etc.
