Crazy:
Police in Dallas say Thomas Johnson, a former wide receiver at Texas A&M, randomly hacked a jogger to death with a machete early Monday. Johnson then admitted to the crime and even reported it by calling police from a nearby location, Fox 4 in Dallas is reporting.
Johnson, 21, recently had been kicked out of his home, police say. He had been arrested on charges of evading arrest, burglary of a habitation and auto theft last year after breaking into his aunt’s home to steal money and her minivan. According to the Dallas Morning News, he received probation for those crimes, a sentence that was revoked after he tested positive for marijuana and failed to meet other conditions.
“He was angry about his situation,” DPD Deputy Chief Rob Sherwin told Fox 4. “It’s very unusual. It’s quite shocking.”
There were witnesses to the crime, one of who was interviewed by Fox 4: “You could tell it was a machete, coming down on what I wasn’t sure at first but when I got closer I could tell it was a body. And he was repeatedly hitting it in the back of the neck.”
