Mack Brown expresses interest in South Carolina job.

Since Steve Spurrier announced his resignation as the head coach at South Carolina, several names have been discussed as his potential replacement.

On Thursday, former Texas head coach Mack Brown, who Spurrier sarcastically referred to as "Mr. Football," tossed his hat into the ring during an appearance on the Paul Finebaum Show.

Brown, who now works as an analyst for ESPN, amassed a 158-48 record in 16 seasons with the Longhorns, winning one national championship and two Big 12 Championships.
Prior to taking the Texas job, he coached at North Carolina for 10 seasons, going 69-46-1. Brown also had brief head coaching stints at Tulane (1985-87) and Appalachian State (1983).
In 30 seasons as a head coach, Brown compiled a 244-122-2 overall record.

There is absolutely no way in hell Mack Brown gets this job. Spurrier will come back before he allows Mack Brown to take over what he built.

Correct...I hate the term "zero chance", so I will say .00000000000000000000000000001%. I know too many people that have given big time money that won't allow this to happen...

He's not a good coach now. Not sure he ever was.

South Carolina may have not been a good job 15 years ago but Spurrier proved you can win here. The job will pay 4 mil a year. Numerous upgrades in facilities to get on par with the rest of the SEC. This is a good job. I'm not sure who we hire, but I know it won't be Mack Brown.

Sc is still not a great job. Holtz and Spurrier brought them back a bit.... but nowhere near a great job. "Upgrades to the facilities" is a weak argument....everyone has that shit now and SC's arent very special. I am a long time SC fan but you could and will do much worse than MB.

Good god is he ever. Listened to him in Thursday's Auburn-Ky. Game. Horrible. No insight, not funny, just the same old drivel. Agreed with every coaches' call. Would never allow him to be the face of a rebuilding program. He ruined the Texas program, which you almost have to be trying to do to do that. Out of the loop for sure.

South Carolina is just one of those mysterious programs that is always on the cuff of something great but never materializes. What the hell? Seems like it's been like that for years...

I think he was a good recruiter. Of course being at Texas helped. But the problem was that 5 star recruit would be just as good as a senior as he was a freshman. He also built up North Carolina before Texas to a 1 loss or so team before he left. Guy can recruit but can't coach. When these guys get these TV jobs, you can kinda tell why they sucked as a coach. They provide the same info. that the average fan could. Example is Herm Edwards. I get so sick of hearing him talk. Example #2 is Bob Davie.

I agree recruiting is a great asset he has, coaching style, however, I don't consider him to be top tier
