The outfielder played 19 seasons in the majors, 12 of which were spent with the Twins. Said the 5-time All-Star and 9-time Gold Glove winner: "I still love the game, but time has taken a toll on me mentally and physically."

I'm kind of surprised by this...

the twins are an up and coming team and he would be nice to have around as the 4th outfielder.

I wonder if if the slump he went through the helped with this decision.

Hes only 2 doubles from 500 in his career that would have been a cool milestone.

I always liked home. He was always great with fans -- or at least when I used to be big in getting autographs he was always super nice

He's lived north of Dallas for a long time. He has two boys that play D1 football! It's been a great career, but I think he's wanted to retire for a couple years.
