No disrespect to the rest of his career. Yea one of the all time greats.
But his regression in basketball is worse then Peyton Manning in football.

The problem is he don't realize it .

He has not settled into being a role player .

He still thinks he's an all star and should put up 30 shots a game.

If he realized he was average maybe he could help a team.

But the way he is playing probably makes him the most harmful player in the entire NBA for his teams success .

He is not one of the 100 best players in the NBA and since he still thinks he's all that it makes him worse then a top 200 player.

Oh yea . The lakers suck

Kobe just doesnt want to win, he wants to be the reason they win. Many people will love him for that but I never liked playing on a team as someone with that same attitude.

he gets a little more time to try and get back into game shape, two games after missing most of 3 (?) years is not enough time to judge

although it's certainly plausible he's done, and I'm certain his skills have diminished

looking at the box, what would concern me is how many three's he seems to settle for (the easy open shot, especially when it's not falling)

no, sir, he is done.

also, this is proof that athletes are dumber than shit.

why in the fuck would you return to a team that has absolutely nothing? did he want to spend his last year of hoops with a team that goes 25-57???

he's going to be moping on the bench at the end of the games like a bitch..... but wtf did u expect?

it's just a testament to the fact that all they care about is the money. yet they're too stupid to realize that they already got a shit ton of it.... and Kobe would be better off playing for a contender...

chop, we hardly agree but here we do
kobe has been busted for a few yrs.
i watched the lakers opening night, they COULD be a fun young team... until kobe is on the floor. he was 8-24 opening night and every shot he takes he has a hand in his face and is going one on one. these kids can stay on him like glue now. no ball movement when he is in. without him they run n share the ball
he called a TO last game with 4 seconds left as randle was driving, coach didnt want the TO lol
plus he is a little bitch when he misses a shot he yells at the refs and when his teammates miss a shot he is sulking and well basically he is a total asshole
no one wants to play with him.
he thinks he is the shit and time has past him

if i was LA
i would attempt to trade him anywhere for a 2nd rd pick
let russell, randle, clarkson and the other young guys play and grow
that aint happening with kobe around

and fuck kobe with his MJ mannerisms
i bet MJ gets a chuckle over it
fuck he even tried to steal the MJ fist after game winners

Manning 39! Going to be 63 degrees in Denver Sunday which is maybe reason Pack is only -3 :think2: imagine Denver will ground it out, Great match-up

Kobe trying basketball is much more of a challenge! @ 37 he can still go maybe 4 quarters but not the minutes and produce as he did before... Lakers tonight down 74-50 at 1/2. 22 minutes he played and was 1-8 from beyond....... ?

You have to put yourself in Kobe's shoes & understand that when you are so dominant at something, and in his case one of the best ever in the world at what he does, and you suddenly start losing what came to you so naturally, it's difficult to take & accept.

Your mind, heart, and pride still say you can do the same things, but your body doesn't.

Rag on him all you want, but i betcha LeBron will never puts up 70 in a game, much less 80 +..

why? he already has the rings, has a life in LA. Making millions more here than anywhere else he could go, but he say he is dumb because he can't score like he use to but wants to play the game he loves? there is so many things wrong with your comment I'm not even sure how to respond

Lebron also wouldnt take nearly as many shots as Kobe did. Think he had 45+ attempts w/ 20+ free throws? that mean he shot the ball atleast 50+ times that game. That is an avg of more than once a minute. Crazy! two completely different styles of play. Both effective in their own ways

He makes 25 million dollars a year and another 20 from Nike, why would he retire?

He has been doing this all his life, a player like that is gonna be the last to acknowledge his decline. It isn't his fault the organization is dumb enough to stifle the growth of young players by letting him play his bastardized version of basketball. I doubt this would be happening if Dr. Buss was alive.

He was terrible last year too. Just last year the Lakers didn't have Randle and Russell who should be getting all the reps and experience they can.

You're right Mark, they are different types of players.

But people always like to compare the two & who's better or will end up better.

Kobe is the closest thing we've seen to Jordan when it comes to being virtually unstoppable most of his career (not LeBron) and when you consider that, it's end of debate in my opinion....

Kobe does have the record for the most missed shots in NBA history, and he's stretching the lead in every game he plays in...

Bleacher report puts Kobe at #11, and LeBron at #7, for what it's worth...

I think the comment went over your head as you misinterpreted my points. Kobe wants to win and craves winning.... but anybody in their right mind knows the Lakers will suck and be a lottery team. Kobe, apparently, is too stupid to realize this.

He will be miserable. He consciously chose being miserable.... He wants to compete and win and do what he loves.... which is championship level basketball. By going back to the Lakers he had no chance.

It's like marrying a whore. Why would you marry a whore when you know going in you're in for trouble (see Mel Gibson and the category 5 heart attack and ulcers that bitch gave him). So that's what Kobe did.. he decided to stay with the Lakers who have ZERO CHANCE of winning.

Honestly don't know what he was thinking. Maybe he had to have a salary number to satisfy his ego... but the fact is the Lakers will suck and he will be absolutely miserable and he will blame everybody in his path for the Lakers being terrible and not winning. And he will pout and whine and act like a diva.

My thing is, why the fuck did he go back to the Lakers?

And don't give me this shit about being a family man.... he married a whore and was out banging different bitches every night of the season while he was on the road. That's probably not the definition of a family man. But to each their own.

He should've taken a page from Phil Jackson's book.. and that is, you only play cards if you got a full deck. Kobe is showing up to the table and he has the worst hand possible even though he may be the best player.

In the NBA it's all about the players and Jackson knows that to win, you have to have horses. Same with Rivers. The guy has no players and they are a lottery team and are horrid... people call him the worst coach in the league. You get him the horses and the All-Stars and all of a sudden Rivers is one of the best coaches in the league.

O/c, being one of the best of all time also demands that one has a huge ego and a totally warped view of the world. In his mind he may have believed that his ability (albeit past his prime) was enough to raise the Lakers to a championship. Unfortunately, the question based in reality is..... is his talent enough to raise this horrible Laker team to a 30-win season?

Kobe consciously chose a 30-win team (if they get that many) and that's on him. I wish the guy the best, but he's got a long season ahead of him.

He went back to the Lakers because he had more value to them financially than any other team and they compensated him accordingly for that.

What is so hard to understand about why a human being would want to make 25 million dollars a year to play basketball?

Same reason Steve Nash was out there on 1 leg the last few years. Because making 8 figures works for some people.

It isn't really like football where you are risking your health every snap you play, so a lot of guys will just play until they can't be richly compensated anymore.

Usually, it's sad when an NBA great nears the end of his career and his skills start to decline. Not this guy. Been overrated for years.
Big NBA fan...so glad it's not the Lakers, Knicks and Celtics every year. So much better for the league, Imo.
