Brock Osweiler will start at quarterback for the Denver Broncos this week, as Peyton Manning is dealing with a partially torn plantar fascia, according to sources.
Manning was pulled in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs in favor of Osweiler in the third quarter.

Osweiler was more effective than Manning, going 14-of-24 for 146 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
Although he set the NFL record for career passing yards, Manning was 5-of-20 for just 35 yards and four interceptions when he was removed from the game. He was sacked twice, and he fumbled.

Sources told ESPN that Manning has battled plantar fasciitis for weeks but is believed to have aggravated the injury against Indianapolis on Nov. 8, resulting in a partial tear of his plantar fascia. Almost always, a partial tear is more painful to play with than a complete tear.

Manning will not practice this week but instead will receive treatment and is expected to be re-evaluated next Monday.
With the Broncos playing the Bears this week, Manning will miss out on playing against his former coach John Fox, who his now the coach in Chicago.
"I've got nothing but great respect [for Manning]," Fox said Monday. "He's a great, great quarterback. He's arguably the best to play the game."

Information from ESPN.com's Jeff Legwold and Jeff Dickerson contributed to this report.

This should teach Tom Brady a lesson on how quick you can go from great to ugggh. It was only 2 seasons ago Manning threw for 5,500 yards and 55 TD's or whatever it was yet Brady vows to play until he is 45.

What lesson? Manning is terrible and has been average for a few years now while Brady is still at the top of his game.

Sure man, Manning was "average" 2 years ago and this coming from a Texan fan. Your best player makes maybe a 1 win difference in your season.

So no serious rebuttal? P. Manning has the stats and that's it. When it comes down to winning time, he's not a winner. I don't take seriously anything you say because your knowledge of football is that of a 20 year old, probably because that's about your age.

I take that as as a compliment. He's not a winner but was 20-4 against the Texans.....Let me guess playoffs?? Who exactly were beating the Pats in his prime?

Hope he retires now that the record is beaten. A year or two too late.
