Clemson went wire-to-wire as the College Football Playoff committee No. 1 seed. Now the Tigers must play a familiar nemesis in the Capital One Orange Bowl: No. 4 Oklahoma, a team they beat 40-6 in the Russell Athletic Bowl last year. Neither Deshaun Watson nor Baker Mayfield played in that game. But Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables coached in it, and now he has to face his former team for a second year in a row.

By falling to the No. 4 seed, Oklahoma's chance of making the final actually rose from 57% to 63% according to ESPN's Football Power Index. The 4-seed has the best chance to win the national title for a second-straight season (Ohio State was the No. 4 seed last year).

At Bob's Victory Grille in Tuscaloosa, there was a bigger cheer when Michigan State was announced as the 3 seed than when Alabama's name was called. Fans happy to see the Spartans and not Oklahoma.

Their defense is peaking cause they have played 3 terrible offenses in Maryland, Penn st and Iowa and played Ohio in the worst possible weather conditions imaginable.
