Lets make McCown the starter.
Play a few games then let's make Manzell the starter.
Manzell wins a game and looks good so let's make McCown the starter again.
Nope let's not do that anymore let's go back to Manzell.
Then he plays well but someone tweets a video of him partying during his bye week.
Lets not just bench Manzell for partying on his bye week let's demote him all the way down to 3rd string behind what's his name.
Make a big scene. Throw him under the bus.

Then what's his name does not do terrible but let's one week after demoting Manzell to 3rd string let's move him all the way back to starter again.

Your post does call to mind the option he had of "handling it In House", word is Pettine mainly took exception to Johnny's lying about the video, saying it was from a while back. Lame attempt yes? On Johnny's part to try and throw Mike off of the scent? Difficult to believe that this was all there was to it.....considering this story of such a lame squash attempt by Johnny. I still maintain an ongoing campaign by Johnny, His Agent & Johnny's Dad exists to get J. Football out of Cleveland and down to Texass to lead The Texans or maybe even The 'Boys so there may be more to the affair than we've been let to know but regardless of whether thats accurate or not Pettine has certainly been weakened by whats unfolded where keeping this In House, maybe just grabbing Johnny by the throat pinning him up against a locker 'n chastising him for lying but leaving him starting would have been a better approach.

Brown's D couldn't even stop Raven.s far from competent Offense and their O-Line was unable to contain a wounded Raven's Defense, keep them from their QB vs. Baltimore so maybe even with Johnny behind center the results woulda been the same.

I didn't get to see how bad they looked vs. Bengals. This last time out.
