Iowa waits on New Jersey as it considers legalising exchange wagering

CREATED: 08 DECEMBER 2015

IOWA WAITS ON NEW JERSEY AS IT CONSIDERS LEGALISING EXCHANGE WAGERING

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC) has published a report to provide policy makers with information to make an informed decision concerning the possible authorization of exchange wagering within the state.
It follows the enactment and signing of legislation (SF438) into law in April of this year, directing the IRGC to study the topic of exchange wagering and report the findings to the Iowa Legislature.

As defined by SF438, exchange wagering is a form of wagering in which two or more persons place identically opposing wagers in a given market, as compared to pari-mutuel wagering which is a betting system that creates a pool of money based on possible winning outcomes at a racetrack.
