BALTIMORE, Dec 16 (Reuters) - A Maryland judge declared a hung jury on Wednesday in the trial of Baltimore police officer William Porter, who was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of detainee Freddie Gray.

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams issued the ruling after the jury of seven women and five men was unable to each a verdict after about 16 hours of deliberations. Porter also was charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and misconduct in office over Gray's death in April from a broken neck suffered in a police van.

This was their alleged strong case - plan was to get him breathing down a decade or more of jail time and have him then testify against the other 5 cops - I really don't see how anything can be proven here other than the dude died in a car accident

I bet if the victim name was Tom Brady and the cops name was Tyrone Washington you wouldn't feel it was an accident.

I can't see another Jury convicting the Officer. The Defense knows how to instill doubt.

Prediction: The term "hung jury" will be rules not politically correct in the near future.

Here you go again just like the Trayvon case.

A jury just sat their asses in a court for a week and came back with a decision. Just like in the case of your boy George. The decisions aren't what you want Vit.

Too bad. That's our system.

Yes, we know sometimes jury screws it up. You are confusing not guilty and hung jury with innocent.

OJ, Casey Anthony, Zimmerman......it happens unfortunately.

Uh yeah, a hung jury is widely considered a win for the defense. It is what it is.

It didn't happen in Zimmerman. He was found not guilty and he is not guilty. Get over it junior. OJ? Guilty as hell.

You are strange.

Im not saying who it's a win for. I'm saying that jury do make mistakes often. And that's our system. It's really a point that can't be debated.

Not guilty and innocent are not the same thing. This is known by even those who get past 8th grade. Not sure what you're not understanding about it.

What's strange is each time a court case doesn't go the way you want it to go, it's wrong and a jury made a mistake.

Sorry Vit, you lose, you get nothing.
