Could you make it in the mountains for a week?

Summer so the weather isn't a factor.

Just you and some friends or you alone up in the woods in a tent or without a tent. Just camping with no connectivity to the world for a week?

Personally, I'd love it.

I'm sure I can if I had to, but roughing it is not my thing. I never enjoyed camping

although on days I don't have my cell phone for some reason, I appreciate the quite and relative inaccessibility

a day home by myself or a guys weekend excursion fills that need to get away void

In the case you describe, of course

In a winter survival setting probably not

A little off topic but I think most Americans would go crazy in just a matter of a few days if we had to give up basic things we take for granted everyday and widespread panic would ensue if they turned the faucet on and nothing came out, no grocery stores, no cable, no smart phones, electricity may be so so.

I am not sure if I ever done any real camping my entire life. I think after a day I would hate it if I couldn't take a shower. In the woods with bugs and vernom. What exactly is the fun of camping anyway? Just walking through the woods? I would want to go rafting, fishing, and hunting but just sitting in the woods drinking beer? Sounds boring.

I think of 2 people who "roughed it" and they both have life prison terms. Eric Rudolf and the Unibomber.

Any of you guys thinking of hiking the PCH or App Trail? I'd love it.
I live not too far from the App Trail. I've done the first 500 miles from Springer Mountain, Ga to Troutdale, Va. , the toughest part. I would love to be able to finish one day, but it's not looking likely. I can say that I grew more as a person in that time than at any other. Best thing for the body and soul, ever...if you get the chance, go for it!!

What do you do to occupy time? I can't even sit for 20 minutes. My work is fast pace and stress. Wouldn't have it any other way. Goes hand in hand with oc and anxiety.

Used to do it for 30 days at a time when I was a soldier so a week doing it the way I wanted to do it would be pretty easy. A week in the mountains is easier then 6 months in a desert.

Well, that's the problem with Americans these days. They can't sit in pure silence enjoying nature, peace and quiet.

Spent many more days than 7 in Haiti on numerous occasions. A week in the woods is cake.
