Georgia Completes Coaching Staff

After winning a national championship ring at Alabama, new Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has turned
his full attention to guiding the Bulldogs. Below is his completed coaching staff:

Coach......................Position...............Previous Job
Kirby Smart..............Head Coach.........DC Alabama
Jim Chaney...............OC/RB Coach.......OC Pittsburgh
Mel Tucker................DC.....................DB Alabama
Dell McGee................RBs....................RB Georgia Southern
James Coley..............WRs...................OC Miami
Shane Beamer...........TEs/ST...............RB Virginia Tech
Sam Pittman..............OL.....................OL Arkansas
Tracy Rocker..............DL.....................DL Georgia
Kevin Sherrer.............LBs....................LB Georgia
Gleen Schumann........DA.....................PD Alabama
Scott Sinclair.............S&C...................S/C Marshall

I believe Smart made a great hire bringing Mel Tucker over from Alabama to head the defense. Also,
getting Arkansas offensive line coach Sam Pittman to coach Georgia's OL was a great move. Smart
retained two assistants from Mark Richt's staff.

Clover....word is Schumann is hell on wheels on the recruiting block. Rocker is a stud. We all know about Pittman. Kirby is one of the best in the country. To say the least...Kirb has went the route of recruiting for talent. Will that transfer to the W/L???? Who knows but as a UGA its looking great. Not many teams that do a complete overhaul has a chance to finish in the offseason top 5. Impressive....lock down the peach state=NC.

Cant wait my friend......Kirby doing work

UGA will finish well in recruiting. The big benefit they had was that they had a pretty full list of commits when the fired Richt and managed to keep most (if not all) of those. Compare to last year when Muschamp got canned at UF....EVERYONE knew that was coming (the firing), so UF only had 6 or 7 commits and ranked 92nd in the country (as a class). McElwain had an uphill battle and managed to get a top 25 class w/ two 5-stars.

Ohio State had a similarly successful class (as what UGA will put together). They basically had their entire staff in place (under Meyer) while the current staff (under interim coach Luke Fickel) coached the bowl game practices. So, they had 8 or so coaches out recruiting full time while the old staff was holding down the fort for the bowl game. Kirby had a handful of his new guys out doing work while he was still working for Bama, which is commendable. If his OC doesn't shit the bed I think Kirby will be successful.

I can't wait to watch Will Muschamp crash and burn. What a DICK! Still can't believe South Carolina was stupid enough to hire that jackass. He must give the world's best interview.

Kirby Smart has done a really nice job of putting together his staff and as you guys mentioned...putting together
a really strong recruiting class under the circumstances. Hanging onto that 5star quarterback after Richt left was
huge. Rivals has Georgia at No. 15 right now with two 5stars and 10 4stars committed. Kirby learned well under
Saban...you got to recruit good players to win championships.

LSU

The Tigers have failed to record double-digit wins in back-to-back years for just the second time in Les Miles' tenure, which almost led to his firing. Nevertheless. LSU returns a loaded roster in 2016, particularly on offense, where 10 starters will be back. The Tigers also made an upgrade at defensive coordinator where Dave Aranda (from Wisconsin) replaces Kevin Steele (to Auburn). Quarterback is always the question and Purdue transfer Danny Etling will have a chance to push incumbent Brandon Harris for the job.

********************************************************************************************

Arkansas

The Razorbacks have gotten off to terrible starts each of the last two seasons, but were among the conferences toughest teams by the end of the year in both 2014 and 2015. Arkansas lost seven starters on offense including three year starting quarterback Brandon Allen, RB Alex Collins, TE Hunter Henry and its three best lineman, but returns most of its defense. The Hogs do get Alabama, Ole Miss and LSU at home, which helps.

I'm not one to usually take up for LSU but last year was essentially a 10 win season. They won 9 games but most people forget they had an early non-conference cupcake game cancelled because of severe weather.

Kirby Smart will not be happy with Jim Chaney. Jim Chaney was a chess move to get Sam Pittman from Arkansas after Kirby Smart was denied access to Dan Enos. Chaney will yet again be ran out of the SEC after 1-2 years.

Razorback, to be honest, I know very little about Jim Chaney. I know Georgia will be his third SEC stop as an offensive coordinator but not sure how he was perceived by Tennessee and Arkansas folks. One thing for certain, Chaney will have two outstanding running backs to work with in Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. Quarterback will be the challenge for Mr. C.

Sam Pittman on the other hand is well respected as a solid offensive line coach. Georgia will pay him $650,000 per season and I heard they will pay his $250,000 buyout for leaving Arkansas. Not sure that's true but Arkansas is making him pay for leaving early.

Arky fans hate him. Tennessee folk didnt mind him. Its up in the air, but from all that I read is he is one of the best XO guys out there. His struggles become when he changes what is working to get fancy. I look for Kirby to keep him in check. Pittman was the possession wanted all along.

Auburn

It will come down to quarterback play for the Tigers in 2016. If junior college transfer John Franklin proves to be the next Nick Marshall, Auburn could be in SEC contention. If not, and the offense again has to turn to a non-running threat under center, this ranking is way too high. A full, healthy season out of star defensive end Carl Lawson would also be a big boost. The schedule is rugged, opening with Clemson and games at Ole Miss, at Georgia and at Alabama. The Tigers will have its third defensive coordinator in three years.

LB: Kendall Brothers (Mo), John Forrest (Ky), Jordan Jenkins (Ga), Deon Jones (LSU), Antonio Morrison (Fla), Reggie Ragland (Ala)

Who Will Play Quarterback for Alabama

Alabama will start a new quarterback for the third straight year. Spring practice and the off season will determine who gets the call to lead the offense. It looks like a three man race now that Alex Morris has transferred to North Texas State and rookie recruit Jalen Hurts is likely to be redshirted. Take a look at the candidates.

Cooper Bateman (Junior, 6-3 220, Salt Lake City, UT)
Bateman was the back up to Jake Coker in 2015, and even started against Ole Miss, which was Alabama's lone loss of the season. Bateman is a good athlete (played some WR last spring) and solid runner, but more importantly, he's got some game experience. Saban has a long track record of giving the nod at quarterback to the most game tested player.

David Cornwell (Sophomore, 6-5 220, Norman, OK)
The seemingly heir apparent as recently as last summer, Cornwell fell out of favor for whatever reason (attitude) as fall camp went along. He's got the physical skills to be the starter, but whether he can seize the opportunity this time around remains to be seen. He was probably as glad as anyone to see the 2015 season end and turn to 2016 so he can start anew.

Black Barnett (Redshirt Freshman, 6-5 205, Corona, CA)
Other than having tremendous talent, Barnett has one thing going for him that the others do not in that he was hand picked by offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin. He is arguably the most talented quarterback on campus, but he'll need to bulk up and clearly be No. 1 for Saban to hand his offense to a freshman. Barnett was praised by both the coaches and players for how he ran the scout team last year.

Jalen Hurts (Freshman early enrollee, 6-2 195, Channelview, TX)
Hurts is a 4star recruit out of Texas who will probably be redshirted this season.

Auburn's immature quarterback who plays for Carolina will lose to Denver's mature quarterback in the Super Bowl.

If "Hey Look at ME" wins (covers) over a proven mature veteran like Peyton and the Denver defense, I'll not post
in the CFB Forum for the next month.

Fuck Cam Newton!!!

Mississippi State

The school has officially announced the additions of USC linebacker coach Peter Sirmon as defensive coordinator and Louisville cornerback coach Terrell Buckley as defensive backs coach. In addition, Defensive line coach David Turner has added the title of assistant head coach. There remains on one defensive position on staff.

Arkansas

Regarding a rumor linking him to the Philadelphia Eagles, Razorback defensive line coach Rory Segrest tweeted, "Despite the rumors and speculation, I'm committed to being with Arkansas football and coaching a great and uncommon group of young men." Segrest has been with the Razorbacks since 2014 and worked with the Eagles from 2006-2010. Arkansas recently lost their offensive line coach to Georgia.

I'm not a fan of Cam Newton either. The guy is an ego maniac, but he's also a thief.

I often ask: Did he ever buy that kid who's laptop he stole a new one?? He sure gets a free pass for his past discretions.

Missouri QB Suspended...Again!

New Missouri head football coach Barry Odom has suspended junior quarterback Maty Mauk. This is the third suspension for Mauk since
September. Mauk, the onetime Tigers starter is being suspended for violation of team polices (drugs). Mauk has a 17-5 record as Missouri's starter but only played in four games during 2015. Welcome to Pinkels mess coach Odom.

Texas A&M

Head coach Kevin Sumlin is taking heat because the Aggies haven't challenged for the SEC West title since his first season, 2012. Texas A&M is 17-15 (.531) in the SEC during that time. That said, Sumlin's overall record in College Station is 36-16 (.692) ranks third in the last 100 years of Aggies coaches who worked more than one season. The two ahead of him, Dana Bible and RC Slocum.

New offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone will earn $965,000 in 2016, according to the Dallas Morning News. That includes $800,000 in salary and $165,000 signing bonus. In 2017 and 2018, Mazzone will be paid $600,000 in base salary and $200,000 if he remains employed on January 1 of the following year. If Mazzone is dismissed without cause, he would be owed $500,000 for each remaining year on the deal. The buyout owed Mazzone if he leaves would be a decreasing percentage of his remaining base salary. he would owe the full amount if he left for another SEC job. Mazzone had been offensive at UCLA the past four years.

Tennessee

Quarterback Sheriron Jones has returned to Tennessee after a brief transfer to Colorado. Tennessee athletic department spokesman Ryan Robinson said that Jones has reenrolled at the school. Jones had transferred to Colorado earlier this month. Colorado officials said last week the NCAA allows a student athlete to return to the school he transferred from within a 14-day window. Jones redshirted in 2015 and has four seasons of eligibility remaining. Jones was rated a 4star recruit when he signed with Tennessee.

Five Star Recruit

One of the nation's top prospects heads into the final weekend of the recruiting process with three SEC schools in the mix. Derrick Brown, a five star defensive lineman from Buford, Georgia, will visit Tennessee this weekend. He visited Georgia last weekend, Auburn on the weekend of January 15, and Alabama before that. Reports came out Friday that Brown, the nation's No. 9 prospect who stands 6-4, 320 pounds, was down to his final three of Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee. Brown will make his final decision known on Wednesday, National Signing Day at 2 p.m..

Five Star Recruit

Alabama and Texas A&M are two of three schools being considered by one of the nation's top cornerbacks. Five Star California cornerback Jack Jones announced Friday that he is down to Alabama, USC and Texas A&M. Jones is the No. 3 ranked cornerback in the nation. He took an official visit to Alabama January 15 and said he was impressed with the players, coaches and facilities.

RB Nick Chubb - Georgia

Among the Heisman hopefuls at the start of the 2015 season, Chubb was having a solid follow-up to his outstanding freshman season when he suffered a season ending knee injury in the sixth game of the season against Tennessee. Through five games Chubb had already piled up 745 yards and 7 touchdowns on just 91 carries. He lead the nation with an average of 8.1 yards per game. He was picking up where he left off in 2014 when he lead the SEC with 14 rushing touchdowns and 1,760 yards from scrimmage. He claims to be stronger for 2016 and ready to lead what should be one hell of a rushing attack. Back up Sony Michel ran for 1,161 yards in Chubb's absent last year. New head coach Kirby Smart has stepped into a good situation with the running game.

2. Leonard Fournette - LSU - 1953
3. Alex Collins - Arkansas - 1577
4. Jalen Hurt - Tennessee - 1288

Three JUCO Players To Watch

OT Charles Baldwin - Alabama
The rich just got a little richer when Bama signed Baldwin, who's already on campus and enrolled in spring classes. The 5-Star standout from Brooklyn's ASA College was recruited to immediately challenge for the opening at right tackle left by Dominick Jackson. Baldwin is big (6-5, 315), strong and determined to put in the time needed to climb the depth chart. It's going to help the newcomer that his junior college operated a similar offense as Alabama. Baldwin is one of two 5-Star lineman signed by Alabama.

***************************************************************************************

RB Mark Thompson - Florida
Thompson is itching to get a crack alongside Jordan Cronkrite and Jordan Scarlette at the starting job once held by Kevin Taylor. Thompson has the highest ceiling among this season's JUCO transfers, a 6-2, 230 pounder with enough speed to get through defensive backfields. Head coach Jim McElwain is searching for a workhouse on the ground to take some heat off the still developing passing game. Thompson has the tools and the opening to be that guy in Gainesville this season. Thompson is rated a 4-Star recruit.

*******************************************************************************

DT Alexis Johnson - Tennessee
Johnson not only has the talent needed to play in the SEC, but he also fills a need in Knoxville. The Vols are light on interior defensive lineman in this class, and graduating Owen Williams leaves a hole in the two deep rotation. Johnson (6-4, 300,) performed like a phototypical defensive tackle at Fort Scott Community College (Kansas), with raw power and the strong base to anchor a line while stuffing opposing ground game. Johnson was rated a 4-Star recruit by the services.
