It just keeps getting worse for James Aaron Grusofski, the western Pennsylvania dad accused of leaving his sons, ages 7, 4 and 4 months, in a freezing car Saturday night while he watched an NFL playoff game at a friend's.
Now, WPXI-TV is reporting that the 33-year-old from Washington County, Pa., had high levels of cocaine and alcohol in his system at the time of his arrest later that weekend.
Police got involved when one of his sons, a 4-year-old boy, was found wandering around the streets late at night in 30 degree temperatures without a coat, shoes or socks, KDKA writes.
The Observer-Reporter newspaper, which was first to report the story, adds that Grusofski got into more trouble when he turned himself into police later that evening.
That's because when police told him he was going to be charged, Grusofski allegedly tried to punch one officer and fought another, KDKA writes.
The altercation ended when police used a Taser and took him into custody.
Police learned about the drugs when Grusofski was being treated at a local hospital following the scuffle at the police station, according to WPXI.
Currently, Grusofski faces charges of endangering the welfare of children, aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.
