So now you have to play even after the whistle is blown?

I want the pats to win this game but thats a joke. they blow the play dead and still award the ball to the pats. who knows if theres no whistle who gets the ball.... now after a whistle they throw that personal foul flag

It's horrible. Thank God it's just about over. Only 2.5 more games!

I thought NFL implemented the "immediate recovery" rule for this exact scenario.

A few years ago, the recovery would not be allowed because of the erroneous whistle even though there was an immediate recovery. The new rule allows the ball to change possession if recovered immediately. Is that not right?

I didn't bet on either side but if anybody got screwed on the play it was the Pats.

not sure that would be considered "immediate" the refs were waving their arms incomplete and blowing the whistle before anyone touched the ball. while odds are pats pick that up if no whistle is blown is not my beef. its just that these refs fuck everything up.

True for an erroneous whistle but two refs jogging/walking towards ball waving hands, line judge on the field waving hands, before ball recovered, play is dead!

No. This really wasn't a controversial play. Whistle blew too early. Ref screwed up. But there was an immediate recovery. Pats ball. No controversy.

It's been like this for years amazing how people who bet games and watch a lot of football don't know the most basic stuff.

No controversy at all. It was clearly a lateral.

this, kinda surprised everyone doesn't know about this rule, the "clear recovery" rule comes into play nearly every week
