I'm hoping for the death penalty. But it's the S-E-C. It will probably end up being a light slap on the wrist or some weak self-imposed sanctions. Hopefully the NCAA's next stop will be at that other dirty program down in Waco.

Most of the allegations are not against the football program. Will be interesting to see. There's 13 allegations against the football program. That can be as stupid as "made contact w/ athlete during non-contact period" (or something severe such as payments, etc).

I'm going to guess Hugh Freeze doesn't get into anything serious here. There may be some shenanigan's going on there, but it could be from assistants and/or boosters.

UF fired Joker Phillips a couple of years ago for making contact w/ a recruit during the dead-period.

As Coach CB alluded already, hate to burst anyones bubble, but the majority of the allegations deal with women's basketball (and the coach was fired because of it) and the track and field program.

The football allegations are said to relate back to 2008-2011 during the Houston Nutt era other than Laremy Tunsil who did receive impermissible benefits in the form of a rental vehicle and had to sit out 7 games of 2015. The NCAA valued the impermissible benefits to total $3,000. I think the penalties will be very light for the football program.

Id guess 2 scholarships next year and another 2 in 2018.

Oh they wont get crap. My guess is maybe a self imposed 1 year bowl ban tops. Nothing will come of this. But if these guys aren't doing massive cheating I'd be completely shocked, they just won't get caught for that stuff.

The Ole Miss investigation began in 2012 when women's basketball coach Adrian Wiggins and two assistants were fired after a school investigation found academic and recruiting misconduct. Two players were ruled ineligible and the school self-imposed a one year postseason ban.

Ole Miss officials later acknowledged that the NCAA was also looking into issues regarding the football program. Left tackle Laremy Tunsil received a seven game suspension this season after the NCAA ruled he received several improper benefits, including the use of loaner cars over a six month period, an interest free four month promissory note on a $3,000 down payment for a used car and a plane ticket.

A former assistant coach under Houston Nutt is also being looked at for issues involving academic impropriety.

I have a feeling this is just the first round for Ole Miss, with more allegations/investigations coming down the road. My bet is their athletic program is about as dirty as it gets. Unless you think those 5 star players from Texas, California and Florida always dreamed of playing for Ole Miss. But accusing and finding violations are two different things. And Ole Miss isn't as experienced at cheating as maybe some of these other SEC programs.

The writing has been on the wall....a perennial bottom dweller in the west and out of nowhere they are pulling top recruits from all over the place. Pretty obvious imo.

Amost all of the violations regarding football (the 5 or so that there are) range from 2008-2011 back when they were bottom dwellers. The only publicized violation thus far under Freeze was the Tunsil rental car benefit valued at $3,000 by NCAA and he was penalized 7 games already for that.

I think everyone that's expecting Ole Miss to get hammered is either wishful thinking or very gullible and fell for a poorly written article by Pat Forde.

You proved my point. Ole Miss is dirty as hell. They wouldnt be where they are at if it wasnt for cheating. Read up on how Freeze was brought in the coaching ranks. The one person I guarantee is wanting this to go away is Ed Oregeon.

What odd logic are you using? Ole Miss is dirty as hell because a third year player received $3,000 in impermissible benefits? Aren't you a Georgia fan? Didn't Georgia's hot shot WR get punished for this exact same "impermissible benefits" violation when he sold some autographs? Georgia is "dirty as hell" too I guess using your logic.

How did Clemson get where they are?
How about Baylor?

they must all cheat according to Albatross.

It couldn't be because each has an outstanding successful coach who is able to sell his program?

Not to be nit picky here but Tunsil didn't get banged for a total of 3k in benefits. he got banged for the use of 3 different loaner vehicles over a 6 month period with no payment, a $3,000 interest free loan for the downpayment of a car, free airplane ticket, free rental car and free stay at someone home. and then he lied about it when the NCAA questioned him.
and thats just what they caught him doing.

I'd say a large amount of college football fans would say that these violations wont amount to much but at the same time i think most would say at this point something doesn't smell right at Ole Miss. How does a .500 team for the last 50 years thats never landed anyone but Eli all of a sudden start pulling the uber elite kids in recruiting classes. especially when almost all of them are from nowhere close to Mississippi. This program has felt dirty since Tredwell posted a pic of him with a bunch of $100's twelve days after he commited to Ole Miss. Thats just the truth. However, the truth is it probably happens at every major college and its close to impossible to ever prove.

Stringfellow already had financial aid papers signed with Nebraska (of course thats only binding for the school), but next thing you know the cash picture. Bo Pelini went somewhat public saying some things were not right there, and Freeze basically said "we got Treadwell....and his mom".

Ole miss fan......Are you talking about TG3? UGA hasnt had a WR since AJ Green. Ole miss is dirty. So either you are a ole miss follower or dont tag behind recruiting.

Clemson got where they are by UGA not recruiting the best QB in CFB in their own backyard until late in his senior season. He would have loved to play in Athens, but got no respect.....fail on UGAs part. Baylor.....not on the same playing field in any way.

Regarding Tunsil, the NCAA deemed all of that totaled up to a value of $3,000 in impermissible benefits. 7 game suspension was levied.

Regarding Treadwell, people think it's inconceivable Ole Miss would sign the #1 WR. They don't realize Ole Miss signed his best friend the year before. That might've helped. It's also a helluva offensive system to play in and he's now projected as the #1 WR to be taken in this year's draft three years later. Seems like Treadwell made a really smart decision. Regarding the "bunch of 100's Twitter pic." Take a look at the pic. It's MAYBE about $240 and he's got his class ring on next to the class ring box. Maybe just maybe he's flashing the cash he used to purchase his senior class ring. Or maybe Ole Miss bought the #1 WR with around $240 and he then posted it on Twitter.

Admittedly I didn't remember his name. I thought it was a WR but maybe it was Todd Gurley. As a Georgia fan I assumed the allegation of your player being ruled ineligible for receiving an impermissible benefit might narrow it down.

His name isn't important anyway. I was just using the Georgia player as an example of your ridiculous analogy that basically said Ole Miss is a "dirty program" because a player received an impermissible benefit. By your own flawed logic that would make the Georgia program "dirty" because it likewise had a player receive an impermissible benefit.

Do I actually think Georgia is a dirty program? No, at least not more so than other programs.
