Mark Teixeira and Carlos Beltran should be the next two names to join the 53-member 400-home run club. Teixeira is just six home runs away, while Beltran is eight taters shy. They'll also increase the number of switch-hitters with 400 home runs from three to five. The current membership is Mickey Mantle, Eddie Murray and Chipper Jones.

Beltran is a lock barring an PED issues. Playing a defensive position with that power and speed. Might not be a first ballot guy but he is a lock.

8: The number of home runs Beltran needs to reach 400 in his career, which would make him the fifth player ever to hit 400 homers and steal 300 bases. This season marks his 19th in the major leagues, and when he retires he could very well wind up in the Hall of Fame, perhaps representing the Mets. For now, the Yankees need his bat to remain strong. Beltran hit .292 in 236 at-bats after the All-Star break in 2015, bashing 12 home runs and posting an OPS of .877. Manager Joe Girardi knows he will need to give Beltran days off to keep him fresh through the season. For now, Cooperstown can wait.

Beltran, yes --- he'll eventually get the milestone numbers (most obvious, 400 HRs).

He also has the awards --- ROY, 8x All-Star, 3x Gold Glove.

Why do people care about the HOF?

By the time it comes up, they are already so far removed from your mind as having any relevance. And besides, we live in a weak society, just be above average and somehow they will get you in unless they care about steroids ( I look at that as a positive) . Oh he cares enough about his career to cheat. We all do it.

500 HRS not out of the question for Tex.
With 5 Gold Gloves I wouldn't count him out.

Those two guys need to either reach the 500 HR or 3000 hit club, to even get consideration.

Mark Teixeira current batting average: .185

He's also on pace for 114 strikeouts for the season, in only 111 games.
