Clinton Portis trys to pay off casino debt with Bad CHECK!!!!

Former NFL running back Clinton Portis' financial woes may have gotten worse, as he allegedly tried to pay back a casino loan with checks that did not clear.

According to a filing from the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City (per Barry Petchesky of Deadspin), the casino alleges it gave Portis a $170,000 advance and his checks bounced when he tried to pay the establishment back.

In December, Portis filed for bankruptcy, with the filing showing he owed roughly $5 million to various creditors, according to A.J. Perez of USA Today.

Speaking on ESPN Radio 980 (via Clinton Yates of the Washington Post) about his financial woes, Portis explained that his problems began long ago:

Why give a guy like that 170K advance? If he needs that after making millions, it shows he doesn't have a pot to piss in in the 1st place.

Bankruptcy itself is a scam. I could go into Best Buy and steal 5 TV's, get arrested and go to jail or I could buy 10 TV's on a credit card with no intention of paying and then file a Chapter 7 after I ring up another 50K in purcHASES and I still get to keep all of it.

Court Documents Say Former Running Back Resolves Dispute

Clinton Portis is finally resolving a long-standing debt to Atlantic City’s largest casino.

According to court documents filed late last month in federal bankruptcy court in Florida, the former NFL star and the Borgata casino-hotel have reached a deal to settle a $190,000 debt accrued from gambling. From now until August 2021, Portis will pay the casino back in monthly installments of 10 percent of “all gross income in excess of $30,000” earned during the three-plus-year period, a court document said.

The debt to Borgata dates back to early 2011 when Portis filed an application for gambling credit. The checks he gave the casino ended up bouncing, according to a 2016 complaint filed by Borgata. Altogether, the casino gave him $200,000 to gamble.

Portis filed for bankruptcy in late 2015.

Borgata, an MGM Resorts-owned casino, isn’t the only place where Portis racked up casino debt. He still owes about $280,000 to MGM’s iconic MGM Grand Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, according to Clark County Court records. He was sued by MGM Grand back in 2014.

Portis, 36, made more than $43 million during his NFL career that ended about six years ago, but his finances reportedly deteriorated during retirement. In a 2017 interview with Sports Illustrated, he admitted that he thought about harming financial advisors

There is a poster here that does exactly that... BUT, when the Bank/Loan people/Debt collector contacts him to try and collect, this poster TAKES THEM TO COURT and tries to sue them for reporting him to the Credit Bureaus , Sending him collection notices, calling him, and/or trying to take him to court to collect the debt.

If you read his court filings and the court transcripts, its sad, yet funny. And this poster does it all for FREE, he doesnt pay any court fees, as he files them "En Forma Pauperis" , which means, he claims to the court he has no money, income, and owns no real property, so he files for free under the taxpayers dime... so he has nothing to lose.

What a sham!
