Ball is allowed to touch the ground as long as the player has control of it. He did, it was a catch.

I don't see him having control of the ball, otherwise the ball wouldn't be on his hip, after the tip hit the ground

the receivers hand was under the ball and he had control, the ball can hit the ground as long as he has control

that's one of the many things they interpret differently as they go along

and if anything was plain as day, I think they say the call is "confirmed"

one of two plays later, defender's hand hits Cam's helmet before he hits the ball, another thing they're going to call "every time", but not this time

CBS pulled in house referee, Mike Carey after he called the play a catch. That was his one and only appearance on Sunday. Not sure if it was a CBS call or NFL call but they didn't like the fact that he called the replay different than the on field referee, Clete Blakeman.

exactly. Imo, this was used to the nfl's advantage so they didn't bother making a switch. No way it went unnoticed. and the Mike Carey thing is just plain funny.

That wasn't a catch. If we've learned anything, we know that if the ball touches the ground, the player has to remain in complete control, and he didn't.

agreed. From 15 seconds to 20 seconds he possessed the ball. His arms are moving so the ball is moving, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have possession.

My only concern is the ball looks like it turns over to the point where you can almost see the laces....which means he lost control when he hits the ground. If the ball doesn't move like that, they probably rule it a completion.

My issue is why allow this debate to happen? How this looks worsens the nfl's image. Let a person with denver rooting interest be the replay assistant in the superbowl. It may or may not had a factor, but sure looks ridiculous

He has called a lot of plays where they didn't agree ... pretty funny when they have him on and doesn't get the call

The ball can touch the ground, but it can not move while its touching.....problem in the SB was the ball moved after touching & landed on his hip, that's not a catch!

I still think NFL needs to clarify what a catch is. I wish the old school rules came back where the ground can cause a fumble, etc.........
