Went shooting for the first time yesterday

Really enjoyed my first time shooting. Did much better than I expected id do. Fiance enjoyed it alot too. Shoot a 9mm we rented from the range, started at 15 feet for the first round and then went to 25 feet after that. Now i find myself wanting to get a hand gun for the house. Nothing to crazy, but want to become more knowledgeable and improve on my shooting

My first weapon was a Glock. Very reliable. Several calibers to choose from. Solid starter weapon.

The range you were shooting at probably offers classes.

I may have shot a gun when I was in elementary school... but that memory is hazy..

my only experience.. although I plan to give it a try one day.. crazy gun people is the reason i haven't yet..

9mm is a good caliber to start with .22 obviously softer but 9mm not too bad. Once you get passed the ick factor that the libs and media spew out and realize its simply a tool like anything else it ain't bad. Everyone should at least fire a gun and be knowledgeable enough to operate,clean,etc etc a firearm.

30. i shot once or twice a hunting rifle when i was younger. but my parents were always guns are dangerous and in college nobody in my house really went shooting outside of hunting while home on break, so I was never really around it.

whats a good price to pay for a 9mm or other guns mentioned. I saw most in the shop were $500+, same for a pawn shop i also browsed. Ive seen people say go to gun shows, but i would need a more knowledgeable friend with me

Springfield XD 40 or XDS 40 is my choice. Go to a shooting range and test their guns before buying one. 9mm is a good caliber if you will shoot alot due to ammo is cheaper. My preference is 40 cal. and 45 once you get the hang of it.

Buy it online once you figure out what exactly you want. It will be shipped to a gun dealer near you for you to pick up. Gun shows have good prices as well and can walk out with one that day. 9mm should be in the 400-600 range as well as the 40's. Springfield comes with extra's that makes the price worth it. If home defense... buy a cheap shotgun.

I need to get myself a gun. What's one of the better handguns nowadays?

For or some odd reason I always wanted to be a sniper, think I could been a pretty decent shot. Then I read a few stories about some great snipers that wouldn't move for long periods of time and would piss and shit themselves rather than move to give up their position.

I bought the sw mp 9 compact for my gf and she doesnt like the slide cuz its too difficult so i am buying her a revolver and keeping the 9. I love that gun. Concealable , light , and overall great gun

Springfield XDm is the best gun out there for the money IMO ($550). The XDs is also great, and can be had for $400, and $325-350 on sale. However, with all this being said, buy Glock, buy Springfield, by Smith & Wesson, they are ALL great guns, but the most important thing is how it feels in your hand. IF it doesn't fit right, or feel right, you'll never want to use it, and you won't get the most out of it. There are a lot of great guns out there, but some I will never own no matter what because of how they feel in my hand while holding and shooting...

Good prices to pay...

S&W M&P 9mm can be had for $350, sometimes even $325
Glock for $500
Springfield XDs $400, sometimes even $350
Springfield XDm $550

The 9mm round is efficient and will be great for you to learn considering you will probably be shooting a lot at first so keep in mind cost of ammo. Good luck and Happy Shootin'!

Glock is solid, really can't go wrong really with any good name as mentioned above from Matty. I prefer Glock just for resale value if you ever wanted to sell.

S&W 642 Airweight .38 Special +P? My gf won't carry and doesn't like a semi either, so I bought her this gun, and she can flat shoot the shit outta that little thing. I carry one as a boot gun loaded with rat shot while hunting just in case of a rattler.
