Yes!

I want to see him do it one more year before he offer him a massive contract. This was the only move.

Keep Pounding!

Panthers rescinded the tag to Norman. That never happens in the NFL for guys like that. You either get tagged and traded or tagged for a year then hit FA.

Wonder who will step up and pay him.

Wrong at least trade him and get something for him.

Idiot move .

You have a valuable asset and you get nothing.

Plenty of teams would have given a draft pick

I bumped the thread. He was posting that he would rather tag Norman for a year than pay him a long-term deal.

Colts have some cap room, they could free up just slightly more and get him. Giants have some $ available as well. Obviously both teams have to sign draft picks so they would need to get creative.

What a weird move though. Just pay him for a year then let him go, there is nobody else to spend the $ on now for Car, FA is basically over. That really never happens. Probably will be some clarity on the matter.

Sanchez chances at success in his primetime Broncos debut just got a little easier.

My bad defying .

I thought this thread was new and you were saying it was a smart move to remove the FT.

All you were saying was it was good that they put the FT before commiting big money.

I dont have a problem with that.

My apologies

Im sure you are pissed over these latest developments

Even if they did not want to pay the average of the top 5 at his position for 1 year I'm sure there would have been at least 1 team out there that would have given them at least a 3rd rounder if not more for a 1 year rental

Why do you think that?

I understand not wanting to commit big money for him but still.

There's something more here than meets the eye. You have the guy for 1 year, actually 2, because you can franchise him again next year, in his prime, no matter what, and you just release him for nothing?

Teams generally don't franchise guys for 2 years. The 2nd year has to be 20% more than the 1st year which is prohibitive FWIW.

Rescinding the deal to him is stupid though. Must be more to the story, maybe he's on coke. Obviously you would just tag him and trade him or let him play out the season. If you were gonna do what the Panthers did, then you do it a month ago when free agency starts. Now there is nothing else to use the $ allocated to Norman on.

Maybe their GM is a hothead, who knows.

Well he's from my area, and if you know the know, you wouldn't waste that amount of money on him. He's not that great, anyways...

Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reports the Falcons are among the teams interested in free agent Josh Norman, and that his deal is likely to be more valuable than Janoris Jenkins' five-year, $62.5 million pact.

Wouldn't surprise me as he grew up and lives 1.5 hrs from Atlanta. If not playing for the Panthers, this would be the other dream job. Having said that, anyone who puts that kinda money on Norman for his services is cray cray...

The Panthers should've kept the tag offer there. He would've taken it. He hasn't made much $ in his career.

Then get him for a year and then let him go. Or put him on the block for trade and let the new team work a deal with him.

Really bad tactical move by them. Sad!
