Last year there were 10.4million households in the United States which had 'a net worth of $1million or more, not including primary residence.'
There previously were 10.1million such households in 2014.
Market research firm Spectrem Group announced the record finding in a release.

It said: 'The number of U.S. households with a net worth of $1million or more, not including primary residence (NIPR), reached a record 10.4million in 2015, according to Spectrem Group's Market Insights Report 2016.
'The total is an increase of approximately 300,000 households, up from 10.1million in 2014.'
Spectrem Group president George Walper Jr. said in a statement: 'Despite ongoing concerns about market volatility and the direction of the U.S. economy, the number of affluent American households expanded in 2015.
'This report underscores that wealth creation continues to occur in the United States, with the number of millionaire households growing by more than 3 percent in 2015.'

The group said there were 142,000 $25million-plus households in 2014 - with 145,000 households in 2015.
'The Ultra High Net Worth market, those households whose net worth is between $5million and $25million, NIPR, grew to 1,210,000 - an increase of 42,000,' it also revealed.
Spectrem said there were 9.1million households with net worths between $1million and $5million.
Not including primary residences, the group said there were 29.8million households that had net worths between $100,000 and $1million last year.
