JUPITER — UPDATE, 1:30 p.m.: Jupiter Police Chief Frank Kitzerow told The Palm Beach Post this morning that Corey Lewandowski, Donald Trump’s campaign manager, was released with a notice to appear in court after he turned himself in this morning at the Jupiter Police Department.
Lewandowski is scheduled to appear May 4 in Palm Beach County Circuit Court.

Jupiter police had no contact with Donald Trump during the investigation resulting from the March 8 incident, said Kitzerow.
“It was a very straightforward procedure,” said Kitzerow.
UPDATE, 1:10 p.m.: Ted Cruz’s campaign issued a statement Tuesday afternoon in response to the charge against Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, taking issue with the “behavior” of his GOP rival’s campaign.

UPDATE, 12:45 p.m.: Donald Trump has tweeted a response to the charge against his campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski.
“Wow, Corey Lewandowski, my campaign manager and a very decent man, was just charged with assaulting a reporter,” Trump said in the tweet. “Look at tapes-nothing there!”

UPDATE, 12:15 p.m.: Donald Trump’s campaign released a statement following aide Corey Lewandowski’s arrest saying: He’s “absolutely innocent.”
Lewandowski will enter a plea of not guilty, the statement says. He is represented by Scott Richardson of West Palm Beach and Kendall Coffey of Miami.
Richardson, well-known in Palm Beach County, was on the team of attorneys who defended Wellington polo club founder John Goodman in his second DUI manslaughter trial.

ORIGINAL STORY: Corey Lewandowski, Donald Trump campaign manager, was charged this morning with misdemeanor battery after allegations of forcefully grabbing a reporter at a Jupiter news conference, town police confirmed this morning.
Following a March 8 conference at Trump National Golf Club, Michelle Fields, a 28-year-old reporter formerly with the online Breitbart News Network, said she was grabbed on the arm by Lewandowski, 41, after she asked Trump a question about affirmative action.
Washington Post reporter Ben Terris wrote that he witnessed the battery.
Jupiter police later said they were looking into the incident after Fields filed a report, although investigators had not named Lewandowski.
Lewandowski turned himself in to Jupiter police just after 8 a.m., according to a police report.
Surveillance footage captured at Trump National, off Donald Ross Road, corroborates Fields’ claim, the arrest report says.
Fields, who Tweeted photos of bruises on her arm she said resulted from the battery, resigned Breitbart less than a week after the incident. She cited Breitbart’s refusal to stand behind her amid the allegations as her reason for leaving.
Lewandowski replied to Fields’ Tweet, writing: “You are totally delusional. I never touched you. As a matter of fact, I have never even met you.”
Ben Shapiro, former Breitbart editor-at-large, also resigned, claiming in a prepared statement that the conservative news outlet, seen largely as supportive of Trump’s presidential bid, “abandoned” Fields “in order to protect Trump’s bully campaign manager.”
Several other employees followed suit in the following weeks and resigned, according to multiple reports.

Tuesday on the campaign trail, Republican presidential candidate Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) reacted to the news that Corey Lewandowski, the campaign manager for his opponent Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, was charged with misdemeanor battery in an incident involving former Breitbart News reporter Michelle Fields at a Jupiter, FL, campaign event on March 6.


Kasich said given the circumstances, he would either fire or suspend Lewandowski if he was his employee.


Kasich needs 116% of the remaining delegates in order to secure the Republican nomination.

Michelle Fields never "fell to the ground" as was claimed by many covering this story. Trump's campaign manager basically touched her, which amounts to minor assault. Ok, then.

On the other hand, Slick Willie allegedly raped dozens of women through the years. That would count as aggravated assault if...you know, it was actually investigated, and if the disgusting filth in the mainstream media cared.
