I'm intrigued but not until the battery improves and there is a charging station on every corner

They're only like 27k after rebate. 217 miles to the battery. I hope some one big like a Cheveron gets on board.

Im very intrigued despite the lack of charging stations. I just couldn't wrap my head around putting down a deposit for a car that likely won't be delivered for another two years.

I hear you, I'm lower middle class and probably wont be ready to buy one till the 2nd or 3rd wave. It's getting closer to being something really big.

Definitely looks nice. I said in other thread I'd just wait unless you're a huge EV enthusiast. All the other automakers are getting into this and competition is only gonna help the consumer in a few years. This is just the beginning for mass-market product really.

Charging stations/infrastructure will be a lot better in 3 years. Those superchargers can charge the car in like 5-10 minutes though. Not much longer than a gas station stop.

Now comes the hard part for Tesla, making 500k cars.

I haven't seen it yet, but my property value has gone up pretty big. It's should have a pretty big impact though cause these are high paying jobs, like almost 4k positions.

Reno is correct. Only $1,000. But I don't think production is even expected until 2017 and Tesla has been notoriously delayed in their other vehicles. On top of that, once finished products start rolling off assembly line, deliveries start in California and then they work their way east. I'm a long way from California.

The deposit is actually refundable if you cancel, so these reservation numbers are a little fluffed because of that.

Still pretty cool to see the interest, the market is definitely there if you can sort out the range anxiety and energy infrastructure issues.

Yea the ceo is very Steve Jobs like it seems.
Trying to turn his brand into a cult type following to help fend off future competition and tighter margins.

Postioning tesla to be like apple back in the day and ford, Chevy, and dodge gonna be IBM, HP, and Gateway. How boring and uncool is that ?

Then he's gonna tell his flock how cool it's gonna be to have to wait extra for your car but it's gonna be so worth it.

Currently producing a bit over 50% of worldwide EVs...appears Tesla = IBM/Microsoft with all others being for the moment minor competitors.

And that moment is likely expanding as news from the top tier mainstream automakers indicates only a modest expansion into full EVs with a similar modest push for Hybrid engines. It would seem that the fossil-fuel industry still holds major sway on the forward thinking of these companies

Lanquel bumped 2 threads on Tesla and started another 1? You sitting on a 10bagger on TSLA or something?

Anyway, I think you're underrating the level of competition that they are going to be facing in the future. The reason the major autos haven't started mass producing EV's yet is because it isn't really profitable to do so. Once the costs go down, I'm not sure how big tesla competitive edge/moat will be.

But I didn't see the stock going to 100B and surpassing nearly every other automaker in market cap either.
