I understand them on a basic level but am looking for a more in-depth understanding. What exactly are they calculating? How do they make the calculations? What are the pros/cons (besides the obvious)? Why are they necessary or helpful? Thanks and good luck to everyone this MLB season.

This is all I know about RL. Rule of thumb. Bet road team only. Road team gets guarantee 9 at bats. The walk off base hit is a killer to the RL bet.

I've never bet MLB using the -1 RL before, but I understand the logic behind using it.
It's all about reducing risk. Baseball bettors who like large favorites typically have two choices when it
comes to betting. They can either lay the price and bet the favorite or they can play the RL and lay
1.5 runs for much more attractive odds, but have to hope the favorite does not win by exactly 1 run, or they
will lose the bet.

Bettors can reduce their risk when betting on a large favorite and not lose when that favorite only
wins by a single run. That's by creating their own -1 RL and splitting their wager between the ML and the RL so if
the favorite wins by exactly 1 run they PUSH, as opposed to LOSING their bet.

There's also a way to take +1 run with the UNDERDOG, which will yield a higher return than taking the underdog at +1.5 runs.

Here's an extremely helpful -1 RL Calculator I found, and I think you should apprise all your MLB followers of it. It really
makes creating -1 RLs EASY! :ok:

check out powerz' thread from yesterday for a more profitable way (in my opinion) to bet the -1 line than using the standard RL calculators

I checked it POWERZ' thread out. He doesn't use a RL calculator.

Appears he has accounts at BET365 and PINNACLE. Both those sportsbooks offer the -1 RL as part of their menu of play options for MLB.

The above RL calculator is for players who can't use either BET365 or PINNACLE because they're a US Citizen or domiciled in the USA. Both of the aforementioned
books won't open accounts to anyone domiciled in USA. Fact.

Yes, in my opinion he found a better option than both the RL calculator and the -1 RL. By betting the standard RL -1.5 along with taking the favorite ´to win by one run´ he has significantly improved his ROI. Obviously finding a book that offers this prop is essential to this strategy.

^^ that is interesting, crazykind. I will read that thread.

Any insight into how the bets are calculated in these calculators? Are they all the same?
