Why do great closers do so bad in non save situations?

It's epidemic it seems.

And I have stats to back this up.

Is it because they don't care about pitching will if they dont get a save?
That would be kinda selfish.

Or maybe they are so used to pitching under pressure they can't seem to concentrate when a save is on the line
