Just brainstorming ideas here... But, has anyone ever ran historical data for teams/players that have/haven't scored in the first inning. Would this even be a decent thing to look into? Is there any value in it?

Just an idea... Any input?

too hard to tell. if an elite pitcher is throwing most teams like to jump on him early - so even if it is a top notch pitcher they are susceptible to letting a run go in the first.
some bad pitchers can have an excellent pre game warm up shut out the side for a few then get shelled.
no science to this

There was a guy that use to post 1st innings only and did quite well. Apparantly he showed a statistic (I dont know what it was exactly) but 1st innings score YES was at 47% (or maybe it was higher) of the time and you usually if not all the time get it at plus money. In any case his point was to find games that there was a good chance of first inning scoring.

In regards to the two good pitchers pitching place no, always stay away from this during the first quarter of the MLB season. You'll usually see a lot of good aces start slow, building up their arm strength during the season and they tend to not pitch as well. Case in point, Bumgarner, Kluber, Archer, Greinke, etc.
