PIKETON, Ohio — Multiple victims were found dead Friday in Pike County, about 75 miles east of Cincinnati, according an Ohio Attorney General’s Office spokeswoman.

The bodies were found at several locations, according to the Adams County sheriff's office. Initial reports said at least seven people were found dead near the town of Peebles, according to WCPO-TV, quoting the BCI.

The circumstances of the killings was not immediately clear. Peeble High School was placed on lockdown because of reports than a suspect was on the loose, WKRC-TV reports.

More than a dozen agents were sent to the to the location amid reports of an active shooter.

No suspect was in custody as of mid-morning local time, said Jill Del Greco, spokesperson for the attorney general.

WLWT-TV quotes a spokesperson for the BCI as saying "we are sending everybody" to the crime scene near the border between Adams and Pike County at the request of the Pike County sheriff's office.

Deputies from both the Pike and Adams County sheriff's offices were on the scene. Officers from the Ross County Sheriff's Office were also dispatched to the scene.

Two of the victims are a 5 day old and a 6 month old. What kind of sick shithead does this?

Update. Now I'm reading the small kids weren't hurt. Hopefully not.

8th body found in 'execution-style' shootings in rural Ohio

PEEBLES, Ohio — Eight people, including two teenagers, were found shot to death Friday in what officials said were "execution-style killings" at several homes in this rural Ohio community.

Seven of the victims were believed to be from the same family and were found at three houses, according to a statement from Attorney General Mike DeWine and Pike County Sheriff Charles Reader. A Pike County victim's advocate said a five-day-old child and six-month-old child were found alive in one of the homes.

“This is a horrible, horrible tragedy," DeWine told WLW radio. "It looks like two teenagers dead and it looks like young, young children who must have been there when it occurred.”

Officials said the eighth body was found at a fourth location. The connection between the shooting sprees and the eighth victim was not immediately clear.
Union Mill Road, which was swarming all morning with ambulances and local and state and local police, meanders through the countryside of farms, widely spaced homes near Peebles, a town of 1,800 people 75 miles east of Cincinnati.

While the official statement said no arrests had been made and that the incident was not viewed as an active shooter situation, it said investigators were still attempting to "determine a motive, identify the deceased, and determine if the gunman is among the deceased individuals or on the loose."

Phil Fulton, pastor of the Union Hill church, said the victims were all from the same family. He described the victims as a woman, her ex-husband, her adult children and two grandchildren. He said he received the information on victims from family members and law enforcement officials. The pastor said the mother and children used to attend services at his church but hadn’t been there for some time.

Leonard Manley, who told the Cincinnati Enquirer that he is the father and grandfather of some of the victims, said his daughter discovered the bodies when she went to Union Hill Road to feed dogs and chickens as part of her normal routine.

Dozens of officers from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation were sent to the scene at the request of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.
Police quickly erected barricades to keep out traffic. Several schools in the area were placed on lockdown as a precaution.

The killings took place near the county line between Adams and Pike counties. Officers from both jurisdictions responded to the call, as did officers from Ross County.
The FBI office in Cincinnati tweeted it is closely monitoring the situation in Pike County and has offered its assistance.

Appears so. When I read about it this morning, they reported that both kids were also dead. Very sad situation, but at least the two little one's were spared.

I'm going to take a wild guess and predict the shooter was not a member of the NRA.

All the more reason to go on and legalize.
