Allegiant Airlines?

Ha anybody flown with them before? I know they are dirt cheap but then charge a lot of ala cart crap, seats don't recline, no inflight snacks, etc. But other than that is it an ok airline?

Have flown with them a few times and just recently to vegas last month. Definitely no frills airline but as long as youre aware of the baggage fees etc beforehand it can be a good deal. All fights with them have been great/zero issues.

I most always fly Southwest...but the last 2 times I flew Allegiant...

first time last Xmas flew from South Bend IN to Punta Gorda, Fl...then took a limo to my Ft Myers Condo ...saved over a $1000.00 (4 tickets)

second time was this past Easter flew out of Champaign Il to Punta Gorda, Fl...then took a limo to my Ft Myers Condo ...saved over a $1000.00 (4 tickets)..again...

All 3 airports were small and TSA was somewhat laid back....5 min wait.. Champaign Il....free parking

Allegiant Air was just fine we were only in the plane for 2 hours..

for all the little inconveniences and the money I saved it was well worth it ( got to bring the dog too)

Never mind, never flying with Alegiant. FAS is on their ass for all the safety issues they have been having. Downright scary. Pilots and mechanics quoting because of the safety issues. I'll never fly with them. I don't care how cheap they are.

Never a problem flying South Bend to Vegas. Beats lining up rides to Chicago to fly.

Allegiant Air’s aircraft are four times as likely to fail during flight as those operated by other U.S. airlines, an investigation by the Tampa Bay Times has found.
In 2015, Allegiant jets were forced to make unexpected landings at least 77 times for serious mechanical failures, the Times’ first-of-its kind analysis of federal aviation records shows.
None prompted enforcement action from the Federal Aviation Administration.
To create such a comparison, Times reporters built a database of more than 65,000 records from the FAA.
Working through the data, they connected a year’s worth of flight records with documents showing mechanical problems at the 11 largest domestic carriers in the United States, including Allegiant.
The airline did not dispute the newspaper’s findings, which included:
• Nearly half, or 42 of Allegiant’s 86 planes, broke down in mid-flight at least once in 2015. Among them were 15 forced to land by failing engines, nine by overheating tail compartments and six by smoke or the smell of something burning.

• After certain systems on Allegiant planes fail, the company repairs them and puts the planes back in service, only to see the same systems fail again. Eighteen times last year, key parts such as engines, sensors and electronics, failed once in flight, got checked out, and then failed again, causing another unexpected landing.
• Allegiant’s jets are, on average, 22 years old. The average age of planes flown by other carriers is 12. Experts say planes as old as Allegiant’s require the most rigorous maintenance in the industry. But Allegiant doesn’t staff its own mechanics at 107 of the 118 airports it flies to or out of, including MidAmerica Airport in St. Clair County.
• Allegiant relies most heavily on McDonnell Douglas MD-80s, an aging model retired by all but two other major U.S. carriers. The company’s MD-80s fail twice as often as those operated by American Airlines and three times as often as those flown by Delta.
Presented with the Times’ findings last week during an interview at Allegiant’s Las Vegas headquarters, the carrier’s CEO, Maurice Gallagher Jr., said, “I can’t sit here and say that you’re wrong. We’re very much focused on running a better operation.”

I tried they canceled the flight last minute then wouldn't give me my money back, had to book another flight through south west cause I had a Doctors appointment I had to be at.

They have had a portion of their fleet grounded several times over the last few years for not making the grade in maintenance. Pass.

Also, it is all inexperienced travelers on there. Inexperienced travelers are basically the equivalent of 4 retards, 1 of which has two heads. It makes traveling Allegiant very difficult.

Also, while cheap .. they will fee you to death, will be late or cancel completely more often and the seats are the most uncomfortable in the industry.

I travel every week so I have had to take Allegiant before because I had no other options (I book late for work) but I have vowed to not do it anymore. It just isn't worth it.

Subway sandwich is to sandwiches as Allegiant is to airlines. That should put it into perspective.
