Not frequently, but it's a good meal....I am more often too impatient to sit for approx one hour when alone....will grab takeout and go home

I've eaten in the past by myself .... in a restaurant at a Casino or Racetrack
in most cases at the racetrack, there would always be someone that comes along and sits down ... either halfway through dinner or towards the end
Never had a problem with it ... and like have said, I like to read while alone at a table.
Haven't done it in years though.
As far as a Movie ... Yes again back many years ago I would go catch a movie or two by myself

i never claimed to be a normal dude, but I probably do this (often with a laptop) five or more times per week.
i work remotely/nomadically and really dont care much about what people think
with that said, these are usually mid-level joints vs. a fine dining establishment where I might take my wifey

doesnt make him/me a better man, just less concerned about appearances and what other random people might think? what is stopping you? what some other person you dont know or will ever see again thinks about you? i could care less if they think I am lonely, sad, etc....I am doing my thing and my way....only get one life....the last think I will let influence my decisions is what people outside of my inner circle think.....
Me too (fast eater). I just dont care what others think and wont let "appearances" stop me from living life the way I want to. I am not saying that you do, but the only reason people think it is odd is because others might wonder/talk about why you are dining alone....I have probably rolled to vegas solo 20+ times in my life and I still hit all the buffets and restaurants I want to....and I am OG from dining solo at my local chilis, denny's, el tarasco, fishbar, OB's, sloopy's etc....I do it all the time....
My from the heart advice to everyone is that life is too short and could end at anytime.....who cares what others think unless they are your core people....then listen as they might be telling you something you dont want to (but need to) hear.
