After showing such promise at San Jose State, Mike MacIntyre is just 10-27
since taking over at Colorado in 2013. He's posted a dismal 2-25 record in
Pac 12 Conference play. The 2016 schedule doesn't help MacIntyre's cause
with road trips to Michigan, Oregon, USC and Stanford. I predict Colorado
will be searching for a new FB coach in 2017.

What the heck has happened to this once fine football program? I remember
a few years back when the Buffaloes were players in NCAA football. The
last winning season (7-6) was back in 2005.

Welcome your comments.......................

Colorado hasn't had a winning program since Bill McCartney back in 82 thru 94.(93-55) and somewhat under Rick Neuheisel (33-14) back in the mid-90's. I always liked Sonny Grandelius who coached from (59 thru 61)....31 & 20....Colorado has been in the tank ever since......

Too much political correctness on their campus now days....That horseshit (PC) and winning football never mixes well.

Mack, I didn't realize Slick Rick won than many games at Colorado. McCartney had
some pretty good seasons during his time with the Buffs.

One trend of late where you don't want to bet Colorado is during the middle of their
schedule. Game 5 (1-4 ATS), Game 6 (1-4 ATS), Game 7 (0-8 ATS), Game 8 (2-9
ATS), Game 9 (0-5 ATS).

CU has not been very "football friendly" as an institution since they fired coach Gary Barnett during the recruiting and female kicker scandals of the early 2000s. They thought they made a good hire with Dan "this ain't intramurals brother" Hawkins, but it turns out Chris Peterson was the man behind the curtain in Boise. Then the Jon Embree era,was just an epic disaster so really the cupboards were bare when Mike Macintyre arrived in Boulder. So much so that CU has not had a player selected in the NFL draft 2 straight seasons. They are starting to pour money back into the vastly lacking facilities in an attempt to re-join the CFB arms race, but I think their ceiling is somewhat limited in the ever competitive Pac-12 conference. I would not be that surprised if coach Mac gets fired if the Buffs miss out on a bowl game once again and looking at their schedule it seems unlikely they will have a winning season. Then again, its been over 10 years since they last went bowling so expectations are not high although someone is eventually going to want to see some results on the $ being put into the facilities.

Excellent summary Cash. Thanks.

I have heard that Colorado's facilities are bad...like really bad.
That's strike one against recruiting right there.

I wouldn't rush to write MacIntyre off so fast. He started at SJSU and had a couple of hard years before he turned that program around. Then he went 11-1 if I recall and that was when CU snatched him up. He needed time to make things go his way and in a conference like the Pac, it could take him longer. I've been watching the Buffs on the Pac TV network and they sure look pretty spirited. Their talent at the skill positions looks pretty good to me too.

Last year they played USC and UCLA pretty tough and lost to the 2 of them by a total of just 7 points. This year 5 wins would be a victory for MacIntyre considering their schedule. 6 is not out of the question... not entirely.

Conan, I also think MacIntyre is a good coach but winning at Colorado may be too much
to overcome. Colorado is the Vanderbilt of the SEC...hard to win there even though James
Franklin won 9 games before bolting to Penn State. I hope Mac does well this season but
have my doubts.

Just maybe the Buffalos have to deal with Coors Beer and higher elevations that loom in and around the Rocky's. I know a lot of
visiting teams complain about "mile-high" play.....Some times it can scare-away low-land recruits...Physiology experts say it is a factor
when Colorado plays Sea Level" teams on the road (the body having to adjust).....If that were the case, one would think they would play .500 ball (W/L).

The TV money will pay off their B-12 exit fees if it hasn't already and there will be tons of money for improvements.
I heard that Colorado was having bigtime financial issues back their B-12 days and this came along but I guess their
money problems were huge.

Reminds me of Jeff Tedford's problems at Cal but everything came together the year he left in disgrace. I like McIntyre
too and I hope the same thing doesn't happen to him.

Like I said, CU has been pouring $ into the facilities take a look at some of the pictures below and that is not what a "broke" situation looks like and if you have ever been to Boulder you would know what I mean, probably one of the most expensive places to live in all of Colorado and now thanks to lax marijuana laws 100,000 people are moving to the Centennial state each year.

Sendacash, thanks for the links. I see their newfound sources of money have already done them plenty of good.
The facilities upgrade has already come a ways and they seem to be accepted by the entire student body. I really
get an upbeat kind of personality that runs through all of the athletic programs there... a total reversal of what
once was.

I stated several weeks ago that in my opinion, the Buffs could wind up the most improved team in the entire conference
this year. Were it not for a brutal schedule they'd be a shoe-in to make a bowl this season. But in a betting sense, I still
think they'll surprise a lot of CFB bettors because they should play a lot better than expected.

One thing that hurts CU is their lack of playing games in Texas. ESPN did a 30 for 30 on CU and one of the things HC McCartney mentioned was their rise was related to recruiting Texas (specifically Houston) really hard. They also recruited CA really hard and at the time, they were rolling. The other thing that happened was that from a coaching/salary perspective, I believe they can't offer assistants multi-year contracts so top assistants might not want to sign knowing they are year to year.
