Diamondbacks Chief Baseball Officer Tony La Russa understandably wasn't happy when both Jean Segura and Nick Ahmed took pitches to the head during Tuesday's game in Pittsburgh.
But he took it to another level Wednesday night when he stormed the Pirates' radio booth during a live broadcast. The radio crew was reportedly criticizing La Russa's opinion about the Pirates' habit of drilling D-backs players, so he went in the booth to confront them.
That's his side of the story, at least.
La Russa said via azcentral sports:
Nathan J. Hursh @Nathan_Hursh
@gbrowniepoints I'm confused. Did he come in during the LIVE broadcast? There's gotta be a rule against that.
Greg Brown ✔ @gbrowniepoints
@Nathan_Hursh He did. Moments before coming back from break! Steve had to carry broadcast solo for a few minutes as I was off headsets.

The Diamondbacks and Pirates won't meet again this season, but we can't expect to hear more about this drama.

"I never have stood for inaccuracies, so I corrected the inaccuracies.
"It's about taking responsibility. If you're going to speak untruths then you're going to get challenged and you should be responsible for what you say. I am. I reacted."
Pirates radio broadcaster Greg Brown also confirmed that La Russa did indeed storm the booth, but he said that the crew didn't say anything inaccurate. Both La Russa and manager Chip Hale had spoken out about the Pirates' pitchers."It's about taking responsibility. If you're going to speak untruths then you're going to get challenged and you should be responsible for what you say. I am. I reacted."
