The first sport I ever wagered on was horse racing. I would go to Churchill Downs when I was 12-13 with my dad and he would place my $2 across the board bets for me. I loved it.

I remember the first bet I ever won was on a 1-1a combo at 8-1.

Never bet horses, wanted to once I really got into betting, but discovered the vig on horses was way to high and it's a total sucker's game. My first bet ever though was when I first moved to Reno, I put a future bet on my favorite hockey team, the bet lost, but then I saw you could bet individual games, and thought this way more likely to pay than playing blackjack or slot machines, so I started betting on Hockey first, then Baseball, now I'll bet on just about any sporting event. Wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, but I was right about it being easier than blackjack.

High school. Drove down from the Muskokas' to Barrie raceway. First trip to these so called horse races. Lets go see what the hell a horse race is.

Green as they get. Bright green. Asked my bud for $2.00 and added it to my $2.00. Decision was $2 to win on number 1 and a $2 exactor 1-2. I would have said a box was something my french fries were in. The only bet we made.

Turn for home and the 1 is all alone. Behind him, the 2, all alone as well. Took the rest a while before they turned for home. Win paid ~$30.00 and the exactor was over $300.

Took our wad and headed for a lobster dinner. $350 seemed large as we drove back in Moms' 69 mustang.
