Heads up on Bit Coin

I withdrew 500 via bitcoin from Heritage last Thursday or Friday. I use blockchain wallet and got roughly 498 which is expected due to price fluctuations, etc. What i didnt know is how volatile these price changes can be.

So I had 498 in my chain wallet, just looked at my wallet now and the balance is 564.

Nearly 10 percent movement from Thursday to today, Sunday.

So while it worked out good for me in this instance, the volatility in the market could easily work the other way.

I am a big fan of bitcoin, but you are probably better off doing your transfers right away instead of holding unless you can read the market, which I can't.

If I knew the volatility was this great, I wouldn't have waited to withdraw.

At this very moment on my coinbase app it says it went up $91 since yest .. It's sittin at $678.. Crazy

some of us on here were talking about investing quite a bit into it a while back when it was low (it was trading for somewhere around 200).

I never pulled the trigger but maybe some did.

How much did Bitcoins initially go for when it started up ? Wasn't it like $1 or something... I've heard stuff but never really bothered to look it up

Bitcoin went up $90+ in the past week, I just realized I had my app chart set weekly , it went up $50+ today.. Still impressive as hell, just didn't want to throw the wrong info out

At the very beginning, bitcoins traded for fractions of a penny.

check out the last month or two though, pretty steady climb....wonder how much is china driven (people trying to get capital out), vs wider adoption for us in onffshore betting and other transactions

been interesting to follow.....i only have a couple coins myself, but it is kind of fun to watch it

Did they ever figure out what happened to Mt Gox (or something like that). It was an exchange that "held" a large portion of bitcoins. Think someone either stole a bunch or they were kind of operating it as a quasi-Ponzi scheme.

I used to follow bitcoin quite a bit as a curiosity when it was trading near $1,000.

Bitcoin has been flying up because of the halvening coming up...not as many btc being mined...I would bet the price dips here in a bit
