Is this accurate ... Industry Standard??

I'm rarely thrown off anymore by sportsbook rules... So when I had an issue last night with a client, I was truly stumped by the PPH's response... Maybe it's always been this way and I was just ignorant to it, or things are changing...

So it's always been my understanding that LISTED PITCHER(S) must start in order for the play to continue and the ACTION in MLB means the game is on regardless.. Right, thats basic stuff...

However, what I was unaware of is that the sportsbook is allowed to move the line during ACTION BETS when the starting pitching change is announced.
Never did I think there was any kind of bet that a book reserved the right to move the line after a wager was placed and accepted...

My PPH is claiming that we that's what happens.
Is this correct? Is this industry standard? Are there main books that do not participate in this practice?

What bothers me about this isn't as much as not knowing this is a rule, but instead how player unfriendly this rule is.

IMHO, anytime a wager is accepted unless listed pitchers, if it was a good line at the time the bet was placed, it should be accepted. The book should never have the right to change a line, as your perceived value on the game should change given the number.. Particularly on ML bets...

When you bet action, you get the adjusted line. Been that way for the 25 years I have been doing this. Only applies to money lines. Run lines and totals are always listed.

It should, but some people want a bet regardless.

It's like this at every shop?

Do they adjust the other side, meaning give you a better line if you fall on that side of it?

I hate this! I have KC tonight w/ Ian Kennedy LISTED and now the book gets to adjust my bet to the new odds? At the very least I should be able to cancel the play, but I agree, the wager should still be active without any changes.

i believe these rules only apply when no pitchers are listed

Is there any other circumstance in any sport where a wager is accepted at one price but allows the book to change the line listed

I honored the previous like to my client.. It was a parlay so I had to add $170 to his payout.. I guess I need to tell him that it won't be this way moving forward

still think it's a messed up rule.. I think by selecting action you are not caring who pitches and you're agreeing to that line.. The books ability to adjust that line I think is too far.

No, it demonstrates the willingness of books to screw their players any time they can get away with it. Come up with a fair line, charge a vig, book action, tickets go as written. Any deviation from that should not be allowed. Aaron Rodgers or LeBron James sitting out would have more of an impact on a line than a typical starting pitcher being pulled.

Yeah, it's been around for as long as I could remember.

it just doesn't happen a lot. And you mostly notice when it's a big pitching match up, where one is taken out.
