(Reuters) - Satellite TV operator Dish Network Corp blacked out the National Football League-owned sports channels, NFL Network and NFL RedZone, the first time the league has been dropped by a TV services provider, the NFL said.

The NFL channels went dark on Dish's network on Thursday evening, after a disagreement over distribution fees.

“Our contract with NFL Network has expired. We remain open to a fair offer that allows us to carry this content at an appropriate value to our customers," Dish said in a statement.

The NFL said it currently reaches 60 million homes and has set up a website that lists television networks that still carry its channels so viewers can watch games through other providers such as Comcast Corp's XFINITY and AT&T Inc's DIRECTV. www.iwantnflnetwork.com

Yeah, my friend texted me & told me, I thought he was kidding around .......but I'm hopeful that Dish & the NFL come to terms with a deal before pre season.

If Dish doesn't, they might lose a lot of customers, which I'm pretty sure they don't want to do.

No problem here because I got Direct TV
big difference....dish offered red zone free as part of a pretty normal tv package while directv only offers it with a NFL Sunday Ticket Max subscription which is $360. f that

on DISH's ch #155 it says they are still in discussions so we'll see if this is still the case in 2.5 months

Dish does this often when channels try to raise rates or push to be on different packages

I had DirecTv for 17 years, 1997 up to 2014.......had NFL Ticket all those years but I got tired of their BS.

Dish will come to an agreement, there's no way they will want to lose customers over this since they know how big the NFL is to their customers.

When the FTC stopped the Dish and DTV merger it created this mess. If the two satellite providers merged I believe they would have offered packages at a lower cost. It would certainly have put them in a stronger position to bargain with content providers. The merger would also have created more bandwidth to offer more HD channels. The FTC didn't block the merger to benefit consumers. It blocked the merger so the content providers would hold the upper hand. Basically Dish can't compete with DTV. The only way they can survive is offer less channels at lower prices. They are at a disadvantage to DTV. Why did the government allow XM and Sirius to merge but not DTV and Dish.

i put it on a computer and it was pretty easy but i'm sure my setup is nowhere near as inclusive as bushay's ... I would just rather have the processing power and ease-of-use of a computer behind it but the firestick and then buying a remote with voice capability would work well too.

watched 10 Cloverfield Lane on it last night

How often do you have to update these things to keep working? Or do these never mess up? Like what the life on one of these when spending $135 on eBay or whatever the price is?
